Funding for domestic violence services, housing and homelessness programs, and community-based services helps create safer, stronger communities.

On Wednesday, June 24, a federal court will hear arguments in a lawsuit challenging restrictions placed on that funding.

RICADV is proud to stand alongside partner organizations in protecting access to critical services that survivors and communities rely on every day.

We hope you’ll stand with us by attending the hearing or tuning in via livestream. Your support helps demonstrate the importance of protecting services that survivors and communities rely on every day.

This Men’s Health Week, we’re celebrating the newest graduates of the Ten Men cohort.

Through dialogue, education, and community-building, participants explored ways to promote healthy relationships, challenge harmful norms, and contribute to violence prevention efforts across Rhode Island.

Preventing domestic violence requires all of us. We’re grateful for the men who choose to show up, engage, and challenge attitudes and behaviors that contribute to violence.

Earlier this month, members of the RICADV team, SOAR (Sisters Overcoming Abusive Relationships), along with friends and community partners from Day One - Rhode Island's Sexual Assault & Trauma Resource Center joined forces in Washington, DC for , hosted by The National Network to End Domestic Violence and National Alliance to End Sexual Violence. Together, advocates met with lawmakers, advancing legislation that protects and uplifts survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.

On Capitol Hill, they met with members of Rhode Island’s congressional delegation, including Senator Jack Reed, Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, Congressman Gabe Amo, and Representative Seth Magaziner to discuss issues impacting survivors and victim service providers. They also attended the Congressional Reception, where speakers included Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley, Rep. Debbie Dingell, along with Senator Amy Klobuchar.

We are grateful for the opportunity to bring Rhode Island’s perspective to these national conversations and to join advocates working toward a future free from violence.

Pride Month is a celebration and a reminder that safety, dignity, and belonging matter year-round.🏳️‍🌈💜

At the RICADV, we recognize that LGBTQ+ people experience domestic violence, stalking, and sexual violence at disproportionately high rates, while facing barriers to support and safety.

This month, and every month, we remain committed to LGBTQ+ survivors, uplifting q***r and trans communities, and working toward a Rhode Island where everyone can live free from violence and fear.
