Fauquier Habitat for Humanity

Fauquier Habitat for Humanity Fauquier Habitat for Humanity is an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International serving Fauquier and Rappahannock Counties. Is our program successful?

Fauquier Habitat for Humanity, an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, is a non-profit serving Fauquier and Rappahannock County communities by building and preserving homes for local low-to-moderate-income families. We believe that building strong and stable homes helps build strong and stable communities. Our vision is a world where everyone has a decent place to live. With your help,

we are working to make that vision a reality. Habitat is a “hand-up,” not a handout. In partnership with community organizations, churches, volunteers and families, we are eliminating the blight of poverty housing: leaky roofs, a lack of indoor plumbing and heating, and other unsafe or unsanitary conditions. Since 1991, we have built 55 new homes in Fauquier and Rappahannock Counties, and we are currently building 13 new homes on Haiti Street in Warrenton, VA. In 2017 we launched two new programs: Neighborhood Revitalization (a holistic resident-driven initiative that focuses on an entire neighborhood) and Home Repair Program (discounted repair services for veterans, mobility-impaired, and low-income families). Our homebuyers invest hundreds of hours of labor known as “sweat equity” into building their homes and the homes of others. When they are complete, Fauquier Habitat sells these homes to the families through an affordable mortgage. The payments go into a revolving fund to build more houses. Partner families are truly vested in their homes by helping to build them and by taking classes to ensure they are successful homeowners. Yes, it is. We know this because the children in Habitat homes are graduating from high school and going to college, enabling them to secure better employment and breaking the cycle of poverty for another generation. Help us create the change you want to see in the world. As our dedicated volunteers, national sponsors and local businesses will tell you, working with Fauquier Habitat transforms their lives, as well! The joys of making a real difference, learning new skills and being part of a true community are priceless. Thank you for your kind support of Fauquier Habitat.
