💙 Stronger connections start with trust, collaboration, and understanding!

Join PEATC in partnership with Norfolk Public Schools Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC) and Parent Resource Center for Building Bonds, Breaking Barriers, and Engaging Families of Children with Disabilities, a FREE virtual workshop focused on strengthening family engagement in education.

Together, we'll explore practical tools and strategies to build trust, overcome barriers, and create more welcoming and inclusive environments for families. Participants will also learn ways to foster meaningful collaboration and make IEP meetings more student- and family-centered.

💡Understanding special education starts with knowing your rights, the process, and what to expect along the way!

There's still time to register for "Understanding Special Education," a free virtual workshop hosted by PEATC in partnership with JBLE Langley School Liaison Program Manager, Terrilyn Williams!

Whether you're new to special education or looking to strengthen your understanding, this workshop will walk families through the process in Virginia, from initial referrals and eligibility to IEP development and services. You'll also learn about your rights and how to participate confidently as an equal member of your child's educational team.

Planning for life after graduation can bring lots of questions, but there are resources and opportunities to help students with disabilities explore their next steps!

Next Steps Day: Charting Your Path Beyond High School is a FREE event designed to help students with disabilities learn more about college, trade programs, and other educational opportunities after graduation.

Attendees will have the opportunity to connect with college and training representatives, meet community organizations, and participate in informative sessions focused on preparing for life after high school. Families are welcome to attend, too!

✨Turning 18 is an important milestone, bringing new rights, responsibilities, and decisions. For individuals with disabilities and their families, understanding what changes at adulthood and what support options are available can make this transition feel less overwhelming.

Join PEATC in partnership with The Arc of Greater Prince William and Prince William County Public Schools Parent Resource Center for a VIRTUAL session of "Turning 18 in Virginia: What Individuals with Disabilities Need to Consider!"

This workshop will help families better understand the legal, financial, medical, and educational decisions that come with turning 18 and explore important considerations for planning ahead.

We love hearing how Transition University is helping families gain the knowledge and tools they need to navigate important decisions and plan for life after high school.

📣 Want to feel more confident about your child's future? There's still time to register for Transition University, hosted by PEATC in parternship with the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE).

This FREE, online, self-paced course is designed for parents and caregivers of elementary, middle, and high school students receiving special education services, as well as the professionals who support them. Understanding your child's behaviors is an important step toward helping them learn, grow, and succeed. With the right tools and strategies, families can feel more confident navigating challenging moments and supporting their child's social and emotional development.

Join PEATC in partnership with Henrico County Public Schools for this IN-PERSON workshop designed to help families better understand the needs behind behaviors and discover practical strategies they can use at home and in collaboration with their child's school.
