It is a beautiful day to do a little something to help our neighbors in need. We had 11 outstanding volunteers who were able to harvest 1176 lbs of cabbage, kale, collards, tomatoes and cucumbers. This brings our season donation total up to 74,896 lbs so far.

We will be holding our Farm-ily Thanksgiving on Thursday, November 19th from 11:30AM to 1:30PM. This is a potluck for our volunteers and supporters to spend a little time together in our beautiful community, our Farmily. We will be harvesting for the food banks from 9AM to 11AM, but you don't have to join for the harvest in order to attend the potluck. Just show up anytime after 11:30 with something tasty and simple to share, please bring the kids and additional family members. Help us celebrate our volunteers and how thankful we are to spend time together!

We had 10 of those outstanding Supervolunteers this morning and were able to harvest 980 lbs of peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, broccoli, kale and cabbage. It was a beautiful morning with really beautiful people. Our season donation total is now up to 73,720 lbs with much more still to come!

We have 3 kinds of cabbage, Bravo, Blue Vantage and OS Cross, plus Gypsy broccoli, Winterbor kale, Flash collards and Brussels sprouts. They are all looking pretty good and ought to yield many, many thousands of pounds of nutrient dense produce throughout November and into December. There is so much more to come!

There are a lot of cabbage in our fields. We often say that cabbage is a perfect addition to what we offer to the food banks. It can be cooked a lot of different ways or eaten raw and is full of nutrients, plus it will keep for weeks.

Once again we are asking for volunteers on Monday and Thursday mornings at 9AM to help with our regular harvest. There will be cabbage, broccoli and kale plus some goodies from the high tunnels. Join us!

It was an action packed morning with 13 wildly enthusiastic volunteers. We picked 836 lbs of cabbage, kale, broccoli, peppers, tomatoes and cucumbers and had a great time doing it! This brings our season donation total up to 72,740 lbs so far.

Yesterday we only had 2 volunteers so a few things were not picked. This morning our team leaders Nancy and Sam were able to harvest 213 lbs of tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers and collards. This was donated to the Fauquier Food Bank and brings our season donation total up to 71,904 lbs so far.

We only had 2 volunteers this morning but since they were the very best we managed to bring in a substantial 925 harvest of peppers, kale, and the first baskets of fall cabbage and broccoli. The day started with a light frost but it became quite pretty on the farm. Everything has gone out to our network of food banks already, so this brings our season donation total up to 71,691 lbs.

We may get a frost this weekend but that's to be expected, and we've planned for it. Our cool season crops, broccoli, kale, collards and cabbage won't be hurt at all by a frost so we still have weeks more harvest to come. We are asking for volunteers on Monday and Thursday mornings at 9AM to help harvest this abundance for the area food banks. This schedule will continue up until the Monday before Thanksgiving, November 23rd.
