We found that there was a demand for a more forum or group like use of ICPS Facebook so people can post pictures and talk about the plants.

The International Carnivorous Plant Society (ICPS) is an organization of horticulturists, conservationists, scientists, and educators all interested in sharing knowledge and news of carnivorous plants. However, this would potentially bury some of the announcements and other news on this page under stacks of discussion. Therefore we set up the International Carnivorous Plant Society Forum to cater to this demand. You can find it here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/ICPScarnivorousplantforum

This page has now switched off most of some of the options so it can be used for the distribution of information and news only. If you want to discuss some if this information, please feel free to take the discussion to the "forum" grouppage. Please join and like both pages and let us know what you think

Nepenthes megastoma, Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park, Palawan, Philippines, 522 meters ASL. After an early morning start followed by a 4-hour drive from Puerto Princesa, I photographed this exceptionally rare and little-photographed species. Flying over 2 kilometers (~1.3 miles) away and over 450 meters above ground level, I maneuvered the drone around a small mountain formation to locate the cliffside where there was a known population. Over about 4 hours, I flew my drone back and forth using multiple batteries and charging the spent ones as I went.

The cliffside is severely uneven and steep - leading to incredibly strong and irregular gusts of wind that made photographing this species very difficult. To get close enough, I had to disable the drone’s built-in LiDAR obstacle avoidance system and fly manually.

Nepenthes attenboroughii, Mt. Victoria, Narra, Palawan, Philippines. One of the largest Nepenthes species found in recent history, this extraordinary plant is native only to the peak of Mt. Victoria and the neighboring ridge slopes. The massive pitchers fill with water, providing a perfect habitat for mosquitos to reproduce in; most pitchers I saw had little if any caught insect prey. A potentially exciting area of research!

Nepenthes zakriana, Mamut Copper Mine, Sabah, Borneo, ~1500 meters ASL. The delicate speckling on this specimen of N. zakriana stands out amongst a mostly green population. This abandoned copper mine is the perfect home for many Nepenthes species, as the disturbed habitat allows for full sun exposure on large swaths of hill slopes. A perfect habitat for a ruderal species.

Nepenthes villosa, Mt. Tambuyukon, Sabah, Borneo, ~2400 meters ASL. A relative of N. edwardsiana, this shorter, fuzzier plant grows at higher altitudes and is one of the most impressive plants found on Mt. Tambuyukon. N. villosa grows incredibly long tendrils, regularly over a meter long, allowing the main vine to grow in the canopy while dropping its pitchers deep in the undergrowth and moss. The stunning peristome ribs are densely packed together, giving the pitchers a ferocious look.

Utricularia scandens, Southern Karnataka, India. India's Deccan plateau has some of the world's oldest rocks, including Savandurga where this was photographed, a granitic outcrop and Asia's largest monolithic hill. The thin biocrusts and soil on the hill often feature carnivorous plants such as Drosera burmannii, Drosera indica, and multiple species of Utricularia including U. scandens, a twining species.

Nepenthes edwardsiana, Mt. Tambuyukon, Sabah, Borneo ~2200 meters ASL. The king of Nepenthes - this species is easily identifiable through its incredibly vibrant red and orange colors and its razor-sharp peristome ribs. With pitchers easily reaching over 30 centimeters, this plant is hard to miss even in the thick Bornean cloud forest.
