Some of these articles are rather technical but you should find something interesting in each of them. In particular, the Drosera floridana article has many observations of the plants and explanations of the importance of those observations.

The International Carnivorous Plant Society is an organization of gardeners, horticulturists, conservationists, scientists, and educators all interested in sharing knowledge and news of carnivorous plants. The Society is a registered US IRS 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation and is the International Cultivar Registration Authority (ICRA) for cultivated carnivorous plant names.

Big news! UNC-Chapel Hill and Duke University will unite their herbaria under the management of the North Carolina Botanical Garden. Together, the collection will comprise about 1.7 million specimens, making it the third-largest university herbarium in the country after Harvard University and the University of California, Berkeley; and the largest in the southeastern United States. Herbaria are collections of preserved plant specimens that serve as irreplaceable scientific archives and enable researchers to study biodiversity, long-term climate shifts, invasive species and other changes in plant life across generations. One Green Pitcher Plant population was down to just 3 plants before a team of 36 volunteers stepped in. Over 9 days and 1,011 labor hours in March 2025, they restored 12 wetland bogs across North Alabama, running prescribed burns, clearing invasive growth, upgrading their native plant nursery, and planting 41 rare Alabama Sandstone Oaks, all while protecting two other rare neighbors, the Giant Whorled Sunflower and White Fringeless Orchid. Even an outbreak of 18 tornadoes couldn't stop the work for long. This project was partially funded by the International Carnivorous Plant Society. 🌿

The final day of our excursions—and the closing day of ICPS conference 2026! 🌿💚
We couldn’t have asked for a better way to wrap up an incredible conference. Today, we enjoyed the stunning Sarracenia (and other carnivores) at the nursery of Laurens and Mara Eggen, Laurens Eggen . 🪴✨

From fascinating plants and inspiring collections to new friendships and unforgettable experiences, the ICPS conference 2026 has been a truly special journey. Thank you to everyone who made this conference so memorable! 💚

Day 2 of the ICPS Conference field trips! 🌿🇳🇱
Today, 22 participants visited Nursery Corn. Bak and the Amsterdam Botanical Garden for a fantastic day of plants, breeding, and exploration.

We started the day at Corn. Bak, where owner Peter Bak guided us through his gigantic greenhouses. Peter has a long history as a breeder of bromeliads and Venus flytraps and is now shifting his focus toward breeding carnivorous plants. It was fascinating to see his collection and hear about his work firsthand!

After a small lunch, we headed to the renovated Amsterdam Botanical Garden for a guided tour. The garden now features a state-of-the-art greenhouse housing an impressive African plant collection, along with, of course, some carnivorous plants. 🌱

Day 1 of the ICPS Conference field trips in the Netherlands! 🇳🇱🌿
Today, ICPS attendees had the opportunity to visit the famous Dutch carnivorous plant nursery, CarniFlora! 🌿🪰

We were welcomed by owner Justin van Kessel, who gave us a fascinating tour through the greenhouse and shared his knowledge and passion for these incredible plants.

A fantastic start to our ICPS field trips—and a wonderful opportunity to connect with fellow carnivorous plant enthusiasts! 🌱✨
