PAWS is an all-volunteer, non-profit animal welfare organization, founded in Wakefield in 1982 by Esther Nowell. We serve many communities north of Boston. Our animals are primarily cared for in foster homes since we do not have a shelter.

PAWS Pet Food Pantry is OPEN TODAY – Tuesday, June 23

Do You Need a Little Assistance Feeding Your Furry & Feathered Friends? We Can Help!

FREE pet food (dog, cat, domestic bird, other) and cat litter (when in stock) are available to all pet parents in need; you do not have to be a Wakefield resident. Visit the PAWS Pet Food Pantry today (and every Tuesday) from 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm at 411 Lowell Street in Wakefield. Donations of pet food and cat litter may also be dropped off during the Tuesday pantry hours.

Happy Tails, Adoption Update – Puffball

Puffball was adopted in March and his mom, Danielle, sent this sweet note and photos about her acclimation into her forever life. ‘A quick note to say that Puffball is doing great, and starting to get fluffy. She loves her window bed and spring toys are her favorites and I adore her. Thank you for all the work you do to make this happen.’

Congratulations, Danielle, on adopting a rescue pet. It’s wonderful to see Puffball looking so content, relaxed, and truly thriving under your care. She is stunning! We wish you and Puffball much joy and love together and look forward to more updates and photos as you grow together in companionship.

Now booking forever homes! These furbabies will welcome you at PAWS meet-and-greet today, Saturday, June 20, 10am – noon, 411 Lowell Street, Wakefield: Gray Cee, 2yo - a loyal and incredibly affectionate girl who will happily snuggle right into your heart; Percy, 2.5yo - a happy, long-haired boy who loves his humans but enjoys a nice, quietly independent lifestyle; Pawtrick, 5mos (m) cuddler; and, 3mos old bundle of playful mischief – Klecks (f), Rori (f), and Inkblot (m).

We’d also be thrilled to arrange a personalized, by-appointment introduction with some of our other adoptable cats including:
Lola – fun-loving, sassy 3yo gal;
Annabella – social, happy 12yo colleen;
Cranberry – playful, quiet 1.5yo lass;
Cannon – sweet, sensitive, social 2yo lad;
Courtney – shy 1.5yo belle who is growing confidence, loves caresses and being brushed;
Sal & Beanie – timid, sweet, bonded 1yo boy and 2.5yo girl; and,

Adoption Highlight, Percy – Seeking His Forever Home

Stunning * Affectionate * Easygoing

A gorgeous long-haired tuxedo, Percy, 4.5yo, is an affectionate greeter, welcoming you with leg rubs. While down for pets and ear scratches, he does most of the work himself—nudging your hand to rub his head and chin, then curling round and round your ankles. Note: Must love close contact and have steady footing!

When content, Percy loves to roll onto his back and show off his fluffy white belly. He’ll welcome a couple of caresses, but will quickly let you know when he’s had enough. Percy will thrive best in an adult-only home or with older children who understand boundaries and cat body language.

Percy isn’t opposed to being picked up or lap-sitting, but they aren't his primary interests. Basking in the sun and watching the world go by from an open window are more to his liking. Percy is a quiet boy; only offering tiny, gentle chirps at passing birds and squirrels. He has lived with another feline and may do well with a playful, friendly furry roommate.

Percy will be a guest at PAWS meet-and-greet tomorrow, June 20, 10am – noon, 411 Lowell Street. Should you be seeking a devoted and loving friend, Percy eagerly awaits your arrival.
