What a great weekend for Pack 722!

This past weekend, our Scouts headed to New England Base Camp for an overnight camping adventure, and it did not disappoint. The Scouts spent the day learning about the animals in the reptile room, testing their skills at archery and BB guns, practicing in the axe and saw yard, and working on their fire-building skills. They also pitched in with camp life by helping with dinner (an extensive list of gourmet hot dogs), cleaning up, and setting up and breaking down their tents.

A huge thank you to Base Camp Milton for hosting us and opening so many great activities for our Scouts. Experiences like these help build confidence, responsibility, and lasting memories for the kids and adults!

We have some amazing events planned throughout the summer, and we'd love to welcome new families to join the adventure. If you or someone you know is interested in Cub Scouting, send us a message here on Facebook or email us at [email protected].

Come see what Pack 722 is all about!

This Memorial Day, we remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

We had a packed house at last night’s crossover Pack meeting!

Every den earned their rank badge and proudly crossed over to the next rank - a huge accomplishment that reflects all the hard work, growth, and dedication our Scouts have shown throughout the year. We’re incredibly proud of each and every one of them!

A big thank you to all of our Scouts, leaders, volunteers, and families for your support and involvement this past year. Our Pack wouldn’t be what it is without such an amazing community behind it.

We’re looking forward to an exciting summer full of adventures, activities, and fun together.

Great job, Scouts! 👏

If you’ve been thinking about joining Cub Scouts, our Pack is open to both boys and girls in grades K–5. We’d love to welcome new families — feel free to reach out and learn more!

This past weekend, our Cub Scout Pack 722, teamed up with the Troop 701 for a Spring Cleanup at the Wakefield-Lynnfield United Methodist Church.

Together, the Scouts worked hard to give back to a place that generously supports both of our organizations. They raked leaves, picked up rocks, swept gravel, returned runaway stones to the playground, trimmed trees, and cleaned out the flower beds. It was a great day of teamwork, service, and taking pride in our community.

We are incredibly grateful to the Wakefield-Lynnfield United Methodist Church for allowing us to use their space. This was our way of saying thank you, and the Scouts did an outstanding job!!

Last week, we had one of our most popular pack meetings of the year, “Take It Apart Night!”

Scouts brought in old electronics and got the chance to take them apart and see what’s inside. They found all kinds of parts like gears, magnets, wires, lights, motors, and even a few solar panels along the way.

It was a great hands-on activity and a fun way for the kids to learn how things are put together.

Thanks to everyone who helped make it a fun and safe (read: hammer free) night!

What an unforgettable weekend for our Cub Scouts and families aboard the USS Massachusetts!

We had an amazing time at Battleship Cove, where our Scouts got the full experience of spending the night aboard a real battleship, exploring a submarine, and climbing through a destroyer. The kids had an absolute blast from start to finish!

A huge thank you to all the families who joined us and to Battleship Cove for hosting Cub Scout Pack 722, Wakefield, Massachusetts!

’Twas the night before the Pinewood Derby...

’Twas the night before the Derby, and all through the town,
The workshops are quiet, with the tools all put down,
Each race car was weighed and inspected with care,
With axles well polished and graphite to spare.

At home the young Scouts will try their best to sleep tight,
But thoughts of the races will keep them up all night.
With blocks carved like rockets and wedges so sleek,
Each one hoping their speed will be best of the fleet.

Five ounces exactly at the weigh-in they'll stand,
With tungsten and lead set by careful young hands.
The wheels trued and spinning, the axles set right,
With bores polished smooth, and the big race in sight.

They’ll whisper of alignment and rolling it straight,
Of coned little hubs and reducing the weight.
Of graphite puff clouds and wheels spinning fast,
Each hoping their car’s speed will be unsurpassed.

Then morning will come and the racers will see,
If their cars are as fast as they imagined they'd be.
The starting gate lifted, the countdown begun,
Four cars down the slope in a blur of bright fun.

There by the track will be the families in rows,
With cameras and cheers as each tiny car goes.
And louder than all the kids racing that day,
Will be the proud moms and dads watching Scouts find their way.

Through heats and through finals the excitement will grow,
Each car flashing quick as it races down below.
Past sensors and finish lights shining so bright,
Determining winners by fractions so slight.

So here’s to the Pinewood Derby, that wonderful race,
Where laughter and sawdust both fill up the place.
In Wakefield each year it’s a sight to behold,
Small cars, big cheers, and memories of gold.

And we’ll hear someone shout as the last heat runs free,
“We can’t wait to see you at next year’s Derby!”

Vote for us to be the cover of the 2026 Wakefield Annual Town Report!

www.wakefieldma.gov/cover-contest

Time to vote!
In 2026, Wakefield will publish its 214th Annual Town Report. Each year, the book summarizes Town Meetings, provides municipal department highlights, outlines Town finances, and much more. It’s time to vote on this year’s cover!

In January, the Town Administrator’s office invited community members to submit an original photo that captured the essence of Wakefield in 2025. The submissions have been compiled, and you can now vote on the final cover selection. Cast your vote online by February 28, 2026: www.wakefieldma.gov/cover-contest

While there is no financial compensation for having one’s photo in the Annual Report, the creator will be credited in the publication. Many thanks to all the talented artists that submitted work for consideration.
