Lest you’re worried, Tuesday Nov 3, though it is Election Day, is not a federal or MA state holiday, so the Lucius Beebe Memorial Library will be open its usual hours, as will banks and retail stores. There will be no school for Wakefield students, but it is an In-service day for teachers, that’s why you’ll see cars in the parking lots.

TONIGHT - Pumpkins on the Plaza!! 6-8 pm. They're better seen in the dark, lit up, then the daytime photo below (from an earlier year). You'll marvel at the creativity of our WMHS students.

What a great family event the Friends sponsored on Saturday. Many thanks to the Lucius Beebe Memorial Library Staff who made all arrangements and to Katie and Annie who staffed it and clapped along with all the kids. 150 community members registered and a great time was had by all.

It is not too late to grab a $25.00 Harrows gift card for $20.00. Respond to this posting, we can deliver to local homes. Funds raised provide the Friends the ability to fund programs such as this.

Thanks to all who attended...hope you had a blast.

Going to the concert today, or passing by the Americal Civic Center between 3-4 pm? Stop in and talk to Karen at the Friends of Beebe Library's table if you don't know the difference between the Lucius Beebe Memorial Library and the Friends of Beebe Library. Or if you need to renew your membership to the Friends, or would like to join for the first time!

The Friends of Beebe Library, a non-profit, community-based group, was formed in 1972 to provide support for special activities, services and initiatives of the Wakefield, MA public library. Hundreds of your neighbors support the Friends through dues and as volunteers.

You'd like to support the Library's programming, but you don't need a chicken pie. Buy one anyway, and donate it to the Wakefield Food Pantry. The WFP will be at the Americal Civic Center tomorrow afternoon (3-4 pm), so in one visit you can buy the card ($20) and donate it, making two of Wakefield's non-profits happy at once. This idea came from someone who purchased several Harrows cards and asked us to donate them.

Here's a date idea for this Saturday, if you act quickly: Dinner and a Show!
The Rubin Brothers will be our last "Plaza Jazz" event, but instead of performing on the Library's front steps, they will perform inside the American Civic Center, from 3:00—4:00 PM. While there, purchase a gift card to for Harrow's Chicken Pies, valued at $25, selling for only $20! Then order your dinner online and enjoy it!
DETAILS
Americal Civic Center is located at 467 Main St, Wakefield, near CVS.
Real-life brothers AJ Rubin & Colescott Rubin are time-traveling musical entertainers with a whimsical flair for vaudeville & circus. Register now for the free concert! At this time, there are only 11 seats left! https://wakefieldlibrary.assabetinteractive.com/.../rubi.../

Stay Fit with Programs at the Beebe Library!!

Introducing Anywhere Active

Exercise! Do I really have to pay for a gym membership or costly classes?
The Lucius Beebe Memorial Library has a wonderful new e-resource called Anywhere Active, which allows you to enjoy free virtual exercise classes from the comfort of your home. You'll find this resource at https://awactive.org/wakefieldlibrary, and you can also get there via the Beebe website using the Research & Learning Resources tab under Books & More at the top of the main page.

Anywhere Active has a selection of on-demand classes (available to view anytime), as well as live, online classes that you can register to attend. Offerings include yoga, weight training, qigong, and much more, and are suitable for a variety of different fitness levels.

If you have questions about using this resource, the Reference Desk is only a phone call away. The Friends of Beebe is funding this wonderful new way to keep moving and we hope that all members of the community will join us.
