Canter Kentucky We facilitate the adoption of racehorses beyond their days on the racetrack. Each state-run program has its own application process and team.

If you are interested in adopting a horse from C.A.N.T.E.R., please take the time to review this information. CANTER is a national 501c3 organization based in the United States with unique affiliate programs functioning in individual states. Want to be a part of helping ex-racehorses in their second career? You can donate any amount large or small to help our mission. https://www.canterusa.org/donate-usa/

How do I start the process of adopting a CANTER horse?

1. First, take the time to make sure you understand the needs and requirements of an ex-racehorse. These horses are NOT for beginners! Although extremely intelligent, they need professional retraining. An experienced horse person or equine vet may offer advice and assist you in selecting a thoroughbred at the track.
2. Understand the two kinds of horses we have available. Canter Owned and Trainer Listings. To start the process of applying for adoption, please visit here. https://www.canterusa.org/support/

Our sport horse prospect Enceladus (aka “Nash”) is still available for adoption.

He still has a lot of learning and growing to do since he’s only 2, but he’s been a cool customer since arriving at our farm.

We love seeing our graduates thrive in their new homes!

Here’s a snippet of Niko Time and his adopter putting in the work in the hunter ring. Can’t wait to see what the future holds for this partnership 🤩

Sport horse prospect alert! 🚨

Enceladus, or "Nash" as he's known, is a stunning 2024 son of stakes-winning sprinter Nashville.

"Nash" is unraced and was donated by his breeder after a minor tibia fracture in his right hind kept him out of training before he even really got started. He's now healed and has no physical limitations.

While he's still young and needs significant training to begin a new career, he has shown good manners and a willingness to engage since arriving. He also loves to watch lessons in our outdoor arena—maybe envisioning a future for himself as a hunter/jumper?

Fun fact: With his dam named Temple Moon, his breeder wanted to keep the celestial theme going and chose the name "Enceladus" as it is one of Saturn's moons. 🌕

He would be a great partner for someone who is willing to put in the work to let his star shine.

By Nashville (Speightstown), Enceladus is out of the Temple City mare Temple Moon. Temple Moon is a half sister to Classy Class (Discreetly Mine), a G3 winner and earner of more than $600,000. His second dam is the G1-placed Collegiate (Saarland). He is in**ed 4x5 to Mr. Prospector and, on his dam's side, 4x5 to Danzig.

Stonks knows the importance of self care and making lemonade out of the lemons life gives you.

With all of the rain we’ve had in Kentucky, he took the opportunity to enjoy a mud bath 🛀
