Our final project team highlight for the Class of 2026 calls themselves the Food Crew.

They partnered with the Clark Neighbors Food Project to develop outreach and engagement tools, including social media content, a Movers & Shakers contact list, and a presentation slide deck. These resources were designed to increase community awareness of the Clark Neighbors Food Project and encourage participation in the Green Bag Program. Through targeted outreach efforts, flyering, and direct community engagement, the Food Crew connected with dozens of community members, shared information about the program, and helped recruit new food donors and Neighborhood Food Coordinators. Congratulations to the team on a successful outcome for our community!

The team members, Phung Le, Taylor Anderson, Deken Letinich, Michelle Charbonneau, Maggie Bernetich, and mentor Tim Nelson, dedicated their project in honor of team member Danielle Kilian, who passed away in December. Her help in finding the community partner and narrowing the scope was extremely helpful and the team and Class of 2026 were thankful we got to know what an amazing individual she was.

The mental and behavioral health project team worked with Autism Empowerment to design a survey for healthcare providers to self attest to providing neurodivergent affirming care. After reaching out to over 130 providers, the collected data was then compiled for Autism Empowerment to provide both online and through a quarterly publication for individuals who identify as autistic and/or neurodivergent to use as a resource when trying to find appropriate, specialized care. The survey and data were handed over to Autism Empowerment as an evergreen document to continue to use for years to come as they seek to grow their network of neurodivergent affirming care providers for thousands of Clark County residents with autism.

One of the themes for this year's community projects was arts & culture. This team set out to create a tool that will help increase foot traffic for first weekend art events across the county. Partnering with leadership from each of the first weekend art walks in Vancouver, Camas, and Battle Ground, and with the infrastructure provided by Visit Vancouver, the team created a mobile friendly pass. (link below)

This pass has a map with each participating small business and event spaces throughout the county. Each month, program leaders will connect with the team at Visit Vancouver to provide any updates on participating spaces, thereby connecting the weekend art walks occurring throughout Clark County and, hopefully, helping increase foot traffic for all!

Our next project team from the Class of 2026 we would like to highlight partnered with Meals on Wheels People to support a pilot program providing pet food to clients. The team provided a strategic roadmap to identify mission-aligned partners, sources of free or discounted pet food, and opportunities to raise awareness of the program. Their goal was to keep seniors and their pets together and fed.

Our next project team we would like to highlight calls themselves Momentum Five +1. This amazing team partnered with Educational Opportunities for Children and Families (EOCF) to support its five-year goals focused on community engagement, visibility, and enrollment growth.

Through interviews, surveys, a SWOT analysis, and a review of current outreach efforts, the team developed the “Momentum Playbook”—a practical, relationship-centered strategy. This work focused on improving communication, increasing accessibility for families, and strengthening community connections.

Key recommendations included simplifying enrollment, increasing brand visibility, building stronger referral partnerships, and implementing measurable outreach strategies. The team was grateful for the opportunity to support EOCF’s continued impact and the important work they do for families in our community.

Each year our LCC class members complete projects with local non profits to help solve a challenge or need. This year the class chose their own community partner base on themes from the Community Needs Assessment Report. Over the next week we will highlight each team, their community partner, and the amazing accomplishments they made throughout the year.

Our first team had an environment theme and through an environmental justice lens, the team partnered with CRESA (Clark Regional Emergency Services Agency) to address heat safety in the Maplewood neighborhood of Vancouver, WA—an identified urban heat island—using two targeted strategies. They developed and distributed bilingual heat safety flyers to support community awareness, and they also produced a policy brief focused on advancing cooling equity across Clark County that was presented to Vancouver City Council, and hopefully will be adopted.

Congratulations to Sarah Mittleman, Devon Lobato, Reed Wiesneski, Alex Bates, Mary Hurly, and Sav Durkin on completing an outstanding project. We are also thankful to project mentor, Jessica Garnes, and Community Partner, Scott Johnson.

We still have openings for our LCC Youth Leadership Summit!

Taking place this June 22nd-26th, no fee to attend thanks to OnPoint Community Credit Union, and open to next year's Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors.

LCC Youth Leadership Summit is a week long program that will give students not only leadership skills, but will educate them on the systems in Clark County, the key issues they are facing, individuals and businesses doing the work to make a difference, and how students can get involved in the community as well as their school.

Congratulations to the LCC Graduating Class of 2026 and thank you to Riverview Bank Riverview Bank for your sponsorship and continued support.

Last night we heard from many amazing speakers including CEO and President of Riverview Bank, Nicole Sherman, Ridgefield City Manager and Keynote Speaker, Steve Stuart, and this year's Class Speaker, Deken Letinich. We also highlighted the community impact projects created by this year's class and honored their hard work throughout the year.

And even though we made the class take a million group pictures throughout the last nine months, we managed to forget to take a group picture last night, so here they are in the beginning at the retreat! 😂
