This summer, our Company dancers will get the opportunity to take ballet class and learn classical repertoire from OBT Ballet Mistress, Lisa Kipp.
Lisa Kipp began studying ballet in Olympia, Washington and completed her training at Pacific Northwest Ballet School. Throughout her career, she has danced with Pacific Northwest Ballet, Pacific Ballet Theatre, Ballet Oregon, Ballet of Los Angeles, Ballet Chicago, and James Sewell Ballet, and also performed in the touring company of The Phantom of the Opera.
She has performed principal roles in George Balanchine’s Rubies, Tchaikovsky Pas de Deux, Square Dance, Concerto Barocco, and Apollo, and appeared as the Cowgirl in Agnes De Mille’s Rodeo.
Before joining Oregon Ballet Theatre in 2004, Lisa served as Ballet Department Head for the school of Spectrum Dance Theater and as the company’s Rehearsal Director. She later became OBT’s Ballet Mistress, then rehearsal director, and was promoted to Senior Rehearsal Director in 2022.
As a ballet master, Lisa has assisted renowned artists including James Kudelka, Lar Lubovitch, Nicolo Fonte, Christopher Stowell, Yuri Possokhov, and Helgi Tomasson. She has also staged George Balanchine’s Rubies, Square Dance, and Who Cares? for OBT and continues to oversee the corps de ballet in the company’s classical repertoire.
