I am heading to Colby, WI next week to present at two middle schools and a community seminar. This will be the furthest east I have traveled for Unite 4 Life in the United States. The forecast calls for 20 degree temperatures and some snow!! I will be sure to pack my winter coat and try to enjoy some authentic colby cheese.

Unite 4 Life was featured in an article in the July issue of the Vancouver Family Magazine. This is a publication that is distributed for free throughout Clark County in libraries and other public locations. Check out the great article. It is listed on the front cover and appears on pages 20 and 22.

We provided a two-day su***de prevention presentation to the Clark County Skills Center last week. This was for a health careers summer school class for about 50 high school students. The students were so engaged in the information that the teachers let us stay an extra half hour on the second day just to answer more questions and do the role-playing. It was an amazing time.

We presented at the Clark County Mental Health Advisory Board last night. It was a great time to make new connections, create more awareness of what we are doing, and gain a better understanding of how we can partner with the other resources in our county. Good stuff!

We did a bullying prevention assembly at Frontier Middle School in Vancouver, WA last week for all of the 6th and 7th graders. It may have been one of the most engaging assemblies we've ever done. The students were openly dealing with the negatives reasons why they chose to bully and even responded in a standing ovation when they learned that they had the power to make a positive change!

We did classroom presentations at Battle Ground High School in Battle Ground, WA this week on Monday and Tuesday. It was a powerful experience to train students how to prevent su***de with their friends at a school that just recently experienced a teen su***de. These students know the risk is real and they were ready to learn!

We met with our Clark County Commissioners on Monday. They are totally behind us and ready to personally endorse the work we are doing in Clark County. They shared many great contacts with us and we are going to continue to strategize together with the commissioners to discover all of the ways that we can partner with Clark County to help hurting students.

Check out this feature at the new Couv Blog. Unite 4 Life is a part of a podcast discussing the issues of teen depression and su***de in Clark County. It is about 7 minutes long and well worth the time to listen!

In light of the recent su***des at Columbia River and Skyview high schools, Naylene Frunk of USD Media sat down with Aaron Chidester, who started a teen su***de prevention program called Unite 4 Life and Diane Moore, author and parent educator to look into the issue of teen su***de.

We had our garage sale fundraiser last weekend. We couldn't have picked a better weekend: not a cloud in the sky, 80 degree temperature! Thank you to everyone who donated items and everyone who came to shop. We've raised over $1300 so far and still have a few more items to sell!
