Operation Clean Sweep Results Announced in Tulsa

Federal, state, local, and tribal agencies just released the results of a major months-long crackdown on online child exploitation across northern Oklahoma.
The numbers:

38 predators charged
66 cases referred for federal prosecution
21 children identified or rescued
Nearly 600 cases reviewed
Over 2,000 cyber tips handled this year so far

The operation ran from March through early August and targeted predators using social media, messaging apps, and even AI-generated material. Officials timed the announcement with the start of the school year as a clear warning to parents.
U.S. Attorney Christopher Nassar noted that online child exploitation is growing at an extremely rapid rate, and that predators are increasingly using new technology to target kids.

This is exactly why the work continues. Every tip, every investigation, and every arrest matters.

At The Demand Project, we educate parents and communities on these exact threats and support survivors every day.

🚨WEEKLY PREDATOR WATCH🚨

A prolonged abuse case, a multi-victim local case, and a federal charge involving a child under 12. These three used different strategies, but still got to kids.

These are charges only. Not convictions.

At The Demand Project, we educate communities through presentations and trainings, advocate for victims, run a residential program for trafficked minors, and offer nonresidential support for survivors of any age.

Monday night, our CEO Kristin Weis was back at Clary Sage College to present to their night students!

Just like during the day, we equipped these future beauty professionals with the tools to spot the warning signs of human trafficking and grooming in their industry. Salon professionals build strong, trusting relationships with their clients, putting them in a unique position to notice subtle indicators of control or abuse that others might miss.

Training both day and night classes ensures that every future stylist, esthetician, and nail tech leaving Clary Sage is empowered to turn their chair into a safe space.

Thank you again to Clary Sage College for making prevention education a priority for ALL of your students!

Happy 14th Anniversary to The Demand Project! 🎉💙

14 years ago today, The Demand Project officially became a non-profit. What started as a vision to fight child trafficking and exploitation has grown into a powerful movement of prevention education, law enforcement support, victim advocacy, and holistic restoration at Mount Arukah.

To celebrate, we asked our staff to share their favorite photos from over the years. From late nights in the office and community outreach events to everyday moments of joy with our team.

To every donor, partner, volunteer, and team member who has stood with us over the last 14 years: thank you. We wouldn’t be where we are today without your unwavering support. Here’s to 14 years of impact, and to the work still ahead!

For National Senior Citizen Day, one of our residents spent the morning volunteering at a local nursing home in Siloam Springs before heading over to help out at the animal shelter.

Moments like this remind us why hands-on service is so vital for our residents. As our teacher Mrs. Kim shared, it’s easy to doubt if an outing will go well until you see the impact firsthand. Leaving the nursing home, she was beaming, sharing how grateful she was to serve and how much it helped her realize that giving back and helping others is one of the most meaningful things we can do.

Sometimes, it’s the simple moments of connection that make the biggest difference in healing and growth.

🚨Jesse Butler Case: Update + Common Misconceptions
Recent updates:

LSU has publicly denied viral claims that Jesse Butler was admitted or planned to attend/play baseball there. The university said it has no record of him.

The victims’ families ARE moving forward with civil lawsuits.

The state criminal case was dismissed after he completed youthful offender supervision. The new DA has referred the case to federal authorities for review.

Common misconceptions:

“He was found not guilty.”
False. He plead no contest to 11 counts, including r**e and strangulation. The case was later dismissed because he aged out of youthful offender jurisdiction, not because he was cleared.

“He never faced consequences.”
He completed court-ordered supervision, counseling, community service, and restitution. Many feel it was not enough. That does not mean nothing happened.

“He’s going to LSU.”
LSU has confirmed this is false.

“The victims have no options left.”
Civil lawsuits are moving forward, and the case has been referred for federal review.

This case continues to highlight how the system can fail survivors even after charges and pleas. At The Demand Project, we stand with victims and keep pushing for stronger accountability.

Yesterday, Kristin spoke to over 50 students at Clary Sage College about how to spot the red flags of human trafficking and grooming in the beauty industry.

Beauty professionals, stylists, estheticians, and nail techs, build deep trust with their clients, putting them on the front lines to notice subtle warning signs, changes in behavior, or indicators of control and abuse that others might miss.

Equipping future salon professionals with this knowledge turns every chair into a safe space and a potential lifeline.

Thank you to Clary Sage College for prioritizing prevention education and helping us train the eyes and ears of our community!

🚨WEEKLY PREDATOR WATCH🚨

Two women in one week is uncommon. One produced material involving toddlers for money. One was a teacher accused of abusing a foster child in her care. Alongside them, a man faces decades-old allegations .

These are a conviction for Robinson and charges for Shircliff and Friend.

At The Demand Project, we educate communities through presentations and trainings, advocate for victims, run a residential program for trafficked minors, and offer nonresidential support for survivors of any age.
