We have one week left in our blog series on the Ministry of Motherhood. As we enter into the summer season, most mothers relish the measure of flexibility in their schedule, at least for a few weeks, until they reach the “end of their rope” with the relentless responsibility to coordinate all the daily activities, break up the sibling squabbles, keep the kids motivated to move rather than become couch potatoes, and so on. And then there’s the non-stop ministry responsibilities that don’t take a summer break. If anything, they increase as you feverishly attempt to fill in all the gaps for your vacationing parishioners! The pressure is on with statements like “you only get 18 summers with your kids”, “soak up every single moment”, and “create the foundation of their childhood memories”.
Require yourself to set some priorities for the summer months with this Ministry of Motherhood. All the fun is important, but your presence with less stress and more peace will be of greatest value to your child(ren) in the long run. Remember: spending time with your children doesn’t keep you from ministry. It is ministry.
What’s your ministry calling this summer, Ministry Momma?
