Take a look inside the Mary K. Chapman Rhino Reserve! 🦏🌿

Rudo and Sally share their multi-species habitat with springbok, sitatunga, warthogs and grey-crowned cranes. Our hoofstock team prepares the yard with enrichment and hay, while mud wallows and plenty of vegetation provide opportunities for natural behaviors throughout the day.

What does a morning with our southern white rhinos look like? 🦏🌞

Join Zoological Manager of Hoofstock, Kelsey and Keeper Jorel as they get Rudo and Sally ready for access to the Mary K. Chapman Rhino Reserve!

In this video, Kelsey and Jorel apply fly gel to Sally while practicing stationing, an important training behavior that helps her participate in her own health care. One team member applies the gel while the other uses a bridge to reinforce Sally for staying focused and in position. These sessions help prepare her for preventative care and veterinary procedures. Who says penguins can't fly?!🐧✈️

Introducing the 2026 HallowZOOeen presented by Oklahoma Central Credit Union character: Pilot Penguin! Each year, we design a new themed character to be featured on staff shirts, signage, web graphics and more to help bring our spooky, but not-too-scary, season to life! 🎃

Tina Update 🐘

Tina continues to show no signs of discomfort and is spending lots of time with her fellow herd members. She is engaged, social and can often be heard vocalizing.

As we’ve shared previously, Tina has chronic reproductive tract disease. Because of the complexity of treating reproductive disease in an aging elephant, there are very limited treatment options available, but our veterinary and elephant teams continue to closely monitor Tina each day.

Caring for a geriatric elephant means paying close attention to the little things. Tina’s care team knows her normal behaviors and routines well, which helps them recognize even subtle changes and make adjustments to her care when needed.

Thank you to everyone who cares so deeply for Tina. Our team remains committed to providing her, and every member of our herd, with knowledgeable, compassionate and individualized care.🐘💚
