Rally for Rangers Our mission - to empower rangers with new motorcycles & gear to preserve protected places worldwide. Rally for Rangers isn't just a ride, it’s a movement.

Park Rangers around the world, most of them with a bare minimum of support and equipment, are working tirelessly to protect globally significant landscapes and resources. They cover hundreds and thousands of square kilometers of terrain on foot, horseback, camel, elephant, reindeer (yes reindeer), and, when possible, motorcycle. Unfortunately, most of the motorcycles in use protecting park lands are outdated, unreliable, and improper for the tasks at hand. This is how and why Rally for Rangers began. In 2013, former U.S. National Park Ranger Robert McIntosh was working with the Mongol Ecology Center as a volunteer assisting managers at Lake Hovsgol National Park in Mongolia. "Mac" as he is known to his friends and colleagues, was meeting with the chief ranger at Lake Hovsgol about park planning when a call came in regarding illegal camping on park lands nearby. Mac watched helplessly as the chief ranger hopped on his motorcycle only to have it break down. This happened routinely, that the rangers could not pursue or keep up with illegal poachers, miners, campers and other spoilers of the park. Mac had seen enough. He told his Mongolian colleague that he would take it upon himself to buy a new motorcycle, ride it across Mongolia and deliver it to his friend and colleague so he could adequately perform his job. Upon returning to the States Mac related this story, asked "who's in?" and to date 35 new Yamaha motorcycles have been delivered by 35 intrepid riders and planet loving souls.

This year, Rally for Rangers headed east to Khentii, where we delivered nine new motorcycles to park rangers in Mongolia. To support protected areas that receive less government funding, the motorcycles were distributed to rangers at Khurkh-Khuiten Nature Reserve in Khentii Province and Ikh Nart Nature Reserve in Dornogovi Province.

The forests and rivers of Khentii provided a beautiful backdrop for our journey, with plenty of campfires, shared moments, and memories that will last a lifetime.

Fun fact: Over the past 10 years of organizing rallies, we’ve camped across Mongolia’s diverse landscapes. But this year marked a first: camping in the woods! It was a surprising change for many of our staff and a wonderful reminder of the sheer scale and diversity of Mongolia’s landscapes, from its endless steppes and open plains to its forested mountains and river valleys.

Since 2014, Rally for Rangers has delivered more than 250 motorcycles to park rangers around the world, helping them reach remote areas, protect wildlife, and carry out their vital conservation work.

In 2026, Rally for Rangers returns to Peru for our second rally in the country, bringing riders together for a journey across some of Peru’s most extraordinary landscapes.

In partnership with SERNANP, Peru’s national protected areas authority, riders will travel through deserts, high-altitude landscapes, and tropical forests while helping deliver new motorcycles to park rangers working across Peru’s protected areas. These motorcycles provide rangers with greater mobility to reach remote areas, patrol vast landscapes, monitor wildlife, and respond to threats facing the places they protect.

From the coast to the mountains and deep into the Amazon, the journey offers a glimpse into the incredible diversity of Peru and the work required to protect it.

This film follows the riders, the landscapes they cross, and the rangers working on the front lines of conservation. More than an adventure, the Peru Rally is about using adventure to support the people protecting some of the world’s most important natural places.

Vicuñas ✔️

Pampas Galeras Nature Reserve is home to Vicuñas, relatives to the wider known llamas and alpacas. The reserve was first established to protect the endangered Vicuña, whose numbers dropped to around only 6,000 due to unrestricted hunting in the 1960s. Through the collective action of guards, biologist, park rangers and the local Andean traditions, over 200,000 Vicuñas now roam the high Andes.
