Installing a rain garden is just the beginning. Maintaining it is what ensures long-term benefits for our waterways.

A big thank you to Green Suttons Bay for organizing this work bee and helping care for the rain gardens we installed for the Village of Suttons Bay several years ago. We appreciate their commitment to protecting local waters and creating a healthier community.

Protecting our waters starts with understanding the challenges they face. We're grateful to Northern Express for highlighting the ongoing battle against aquatic invaisve species and the work being done across our region to safeguard our lakes and streams. 8/6 - Senior Beach has a level 3 advisory with no contact with the water recommended - it has been retested and results will be posted Aug 7. All other beaches tested in Grand Traverse, Leelanau, and Benzie counties are good.

Progress continues at the Kids Creek crossing on 11th Street!

The new culvert is now in place, stormwater infiltration basins have been installed to capture and filter road runoff, and the site has been graded in preparation for curb and gutter work next week.

With paving up next, we're entering the final stretch of construction. Once the site is paved, native plants will be installed to complete the project and help support a healthier, more resilient Kids Creek.
