Leadership Kansas is one of the oldest and most prestigious statewide leadership programs in the country. Established by former Governor Robert Bennett and Gary Sherrer, and supported and administered by the Kansas Chamber, the Program is celebrating its fifth decade of educating and motivating Kansas leaders from all four corners of the state. This year’s class explored every corner of Kansas, tackling topics from economic development and government policy to innovation and community well-being. Their commitment to growth and collaboration embodies our mission: to inspire and connect leaders who will shape Kansas’ future.

Leadership Kansas Class of 2025 wrapped up an incredible Northeast Session in Topeka!

From exploring innovation at Washburn University and the KBI Forensic Science Center to engaging with state leaders at the Capitol and Governor’s Office, this session showcased the heart of Kansas leadership.

We also toured MARS and Hills Pet Nutrition, learned about youth mental health at Family Service & Guidance Center, and connected with alumni during a special dinner. These experiences reflect our mission: to develop, motivate, and connect leaders who will strengthen Kansas communities and businesses.

Leadership Kansas Class of 2012 alum Spencer Duncan has been elected as the new Mayor of Topeka. A lifelong Topekan and former City Council member, he will take office in January 2026 with a vision to strengthen public safety, revitalize neighborhoods, and amplify Topeka’s voice across Kansas.
