Yesterday Troop 175 and Troop 225 donated over 42 hours of Community Service to LifeHouse Child Advocacy Center cleaning up their property. We had a great time helping a great organization! Proud of our Scouts and families!

Reminder - the Troop 175 Annual Planning Meeting is just hours away. Details are listed below from the text of an email that was sent previously.

Bring your ideas for campouts, service projects, fundraisers, and other activities. Your input is essential in making this year exciting, meaningful, and adventurous.

After the Scouts meet, Adult Leaders will gather to assign roles (such as Camp Masters), especially for early events where planning will begin right away.

We’ll be ordering pizza for supper during the meeting.

What to wear:
Scout activity shirts are appropriate for this meeting – you do not need to wear your Class A uniform.

Please RSVP to James McKee so we can get a headcount for our pizza orders as well as any dietary restrictions

The Black Lions Crew just returned from Medicine Bow National Forest and hiking in the Snowy Range in Wyoming. The views were incredible and the Crew supported each other for a successful backpacking adventure. A great start for next year’s Philmont trek!

On this , let's learn more about the first known Eagle Scout who was black/African American and paved the way for many other Black and African American Scouts in Scouting America.

Hamilton Bradley:

Bradley is believed to be the first Black Eagle Scout in America, whose court of honor was held on December 19, 1919. He was one of two Scouts selected to represent New York at the Eastern States Exposition in 1920, and after turning 18, he became an assistant Scoutmaster.

Bradley's Eagle Scout court of honor was held at the Rome Free Academy, according to the Rome Daily Sentinel.

After turning 18, Bradley became an assistant scoutmaster for Troop 2 in Rome, demonstrating his continued involvement and leadership in Scouting, according to a report from scouting history website.

Before the discovery of Hamilton Bradley's achievement, Harry Cooper of Missouri was thought to be the first Black Eagle Scout, having earned the award in September 1920.
