She's here! 🐴❤️

After a long journey, Ivessa has arrived at her new home -- West Place Animal Sanctuary on the Farm Coast!

We thank The Dorset Equine Rescue Inc. for taking such good care of her, and everyone who donated to give Ivessa the forever home she deserves. We couldn't do it without you!

Ivessa is settling in beautifully and has started bonding with Happy, our rescued racehorse. Our work is just beginning and in addition to daily care, nutrition, and enrichment, Ivessa is scheduled for a full allergy panel next month. We'll continue to provide updates, and you can still support her lifelong care at West Place.

Ivessa will be ready to meet visitors THIS SATURDAY, 10/31, at our Halloween Pop-Up Tour! 🎃

Thank you to everyone who has donated to support Ivessa's next chapter. We couldn't do it without you! ❤️

There is still time to donate towards her continued rehabilitation and her lifelong care at West Place.

🍎 Another sweet and satisfying apple season.

Thanks to our friends at Sweet Berry Farm, the West Place rescues have enjoyed plenty of tasty treats this fall. Apples are always cored so no seeds for our furry and feathered friends.

Stay tuned for pumpkin season!

Get to know our hometown of Tiverton, RI! ⚓️

Although we serve every town in Rhode Island, our sanctuary has been located on the Farm Coast in Tiverton for the last 20 years.

Last month, Ocean State Media released the latest installment in the Our Town series highlighting the artistic, cultural, and historical aspects that make Tiverton great.

Watch the full episode at https://watch.ripbs.org/show/wsbe-our-town/ and make plans to visit Tiverton this fall.

When an animal is rescued from neglect, it's not simply "happily ever after." The rescue is only the beginning. ❤️‍🩹

The Dorset Equine Rescue Inc. saved Ivessa's life. They responded to a crisis in 2025, provided emergency medical care, and guided Ivessa through surgery and months of recovery.

West Place will provide what comes next: a permanent home to continue rehabilitation, proper nutrition and daily treatment, and a lifetime of love and care. 🐴

For animal welfare to truly work, both rescues and sanctuaries are needed. The collaboration between Dorset Equine Rescue and West Place provides horses like Ivessa with the specific care they need at each stage of recovery. 🤝

We are grateful for our friends at DER for more than a year of work to get Ivessa to this point. She is the last of their Friesians seized in 2025 who still needs a home. West Place is ready to make the rest of her years the best of her years, but we can't do it alone.

Our sanctuary receives no government funding for our work with horses, other farm animals, and wildlife. Every bit of Ivessa's lifelong care is made possible by donations from friends like you. ❤️
