One. full. year.
In October 2025, we opened the doors to Community Grove with a lot of hope, very few resources, and one big question:
Would our community show up and understand what we were trying to build?
You answered that question over and over again. You brought food, supplies, art materials, tools, donations, ideas, and your time. You volunteered. You taught each other things. You sat beside people you had never met before and reconnected with old friends. You made things together. You shared resources. You helped neighbors you may never know personally.
And somewhere along the way, this little seed we planted started to grow.
Over this first year, Community Grove has shared or helped connect neighbors with more than 700 resources and needs met, created over 1,300 moments of participation through free and low-cost community programs, and welcomed more than 30 community volunteers who have given their time, skills, and care to others.
But those numbers will never be our favorite part of this story. Our favorite moments are when someone walks through our door and tells us, “I feel so comfortable here.” When someone says, “I always feel better when I leave.”
When two people meet at an art night and when someone who first came through the door looking for support comes back wanting to help somebody else. When neighbors share what they have because another neighbor needs it. When someone teaches a skill simply because they want other people to experience something they love.
That is Community Grove.
We started with the belief that community care doesn’t have to begin with enormous budgets or perfect systems. Sometimes it begins with using what we already have, sharing what we can, and deciding that the people around us are worth showing up for.
Community Grove remains fully volunteer-run and powered by the generosity of our community. The programs, supplies, mutual aid, workshops, events, and little pieces that make this place feel like home have been possible because local people have contributed financially, donated materials, shared their talents, volunteered their time, and believed in this idea alongside us.
Every time we look around this space and see what it has become, we are reminded that we didn’t build Community Grove alone. We built it together.
These aren’t just numbers or data points.
A year ago, we planted a seed. Today, it has roots. And as we head into year two, we’re going to keep doing exactly what brought us here: growing slowly, staying rooted in Tiverton and Little Compton, listening to our neighbors, and building around what our community actually needs.
We cannot wait to see what we grow together next. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for believing in Community Grove. Thank you for believing in each other.
Here’s to one year. And to many more!
Community care starts in the community.
