We’re rallying with Asian American Federation and partners TODAY Thursday 6/11 at City Hall! We’re calling on New York City Council to fund this critical initiative connecting Asian New Yorkers to legal support in their own languages

ICE arrests of Asian immigrant New Yorkers are up 600%. When families are too afraid to access food, health care, or legal help, the consequences are devastating. RISE funding is a lifeline to thousands of immigrant New Yorkers who rely on our community-based organizations for legal assistance and social services.

We refuse to have our communities hide in fear. That’s why we’re urging New York City Council to support $3.5 million in the Legal Services for AAPI Communities Initiative!

- June 22nd: Last day to apply in person for an absentee or early mail balot.

Last weekend, Mekong NYC attended the Bronx’s first-ever Economic Development Summit as a Leader Sponsor. Hosted by Our Bronx at the Andrew Freedman Home, the two-day event laid the foundation for building a sustainable Bronx economy led by Bronxites for Bronxites.

On May 29, Mekong NYC held the kick-off for our Making Waves Community Garden. Community members and neighbors came out to help build garden beds, pull weeds, and pot their own plants to take home. As the first Southeast Asian community garden in the Bronx, the garden grows herbs and plants central to Cambodian, Laotian, and Vietnamese cultures that are difficult to find in local supermarkets.

Thank you to Qiana Mickie, Executive Director of the NYC Mayor's Office of Urban Agriculture, for attending and giving remarks.

We are 18% AND GROWING in the Bronx!
On May 21, as part of a series of borough-based rallies, we joined CACF: Coalition for Asian American Children & Families , Sapna NYC, and Laal NYC at Williamsbridge Oval Park in the Bronx to keep the pressure on the New York City Council to expand funding for our diverse and growing AAPI communities.
