Mekong NYC is excited to announce the return of our music classes with the Manhattan Academy of Music and Language (MAML) this fall!

We are offering đàn tranh (Vietnamese zither) AND đàn bầu (Vietnamese monochord) lessons online via Zoom or in-person at MAML’s office (40 West 135th Street, New York, NY).

Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced player, all are welcome! Try out an instrument and class for FREE during Session 1 (Saturday, October 24 or Monday, October 26)!

👻🎃🍂 Mekong NYC is excited to bring back our Southeast Asian Haunted House event for a second year! Hosted by our Youth Fellows, the scares are inspired by Southeast Asian folklore shared with our youth while they were growing up.

Join us for thrills and light refreshments, and come dressed in your best costume!

As Mekong NYC's 2026 Garden Season comes to a close, we would like to reflect on all the memories and produce it provided us.

Back in May, we hosted our Garden Kick-Off and restarted our Making Waves Community Garden at our new office! With the help of our volunteers, we planted many seeds into potting soil, set up several garden beds, and started building a garden shed.

At our many events throughout the summer, community members, allies, and coalition partners stopped to tend our garden.

Since then, we have grown bell peppers, icebox watermelons, and A LOT of lemongrass! We learned many lessons along the way and can't wait to do this again, and even better next year.

Stay tuned to see what we do with our harvest 🌿🌱

On August 28th, Mekong NYC sponsored a cast & crew screening of the documentary “Born to Kill” by Sally Tran. In focusing on the infamous 1980s gang “Born to Kill”, the documentary also highlights the Vietnam War, refugee resettlement, and the need for belonging that compelled many Southeast Asian youth to seek a sense of inclusion and protection with each other.
