The COVID Memorial brought community members together to honor and remember those who lost their lives during the pandemic. The trees planted four years ago continue to stand as a living tribute to their memory, and this year, new flowers were added to help keep the memorial vibrant and welcoming. Through reflection, remembrance, and community connection, the gathering celebrated the lives and lasting impact of those who will always be remembered.

At CatRock’s Adventure & Design Lab we provide a unique design experience where students bring their 2D illustrations to life, using our high tech vinyl cutting machine & design equipment. Students learn the back end of digital design from start to finish, from drawing their artwork on paper to learning the process of rendering and heat pressing their graphic on up-cycled bags!

Gardening season is finally here, and we’re taking full advantage of it with the wonderful students of P.S. 23. Our little gardeners had an amazing time planting annuals while learning about different types of soil, how plants grow, and the important role photosynthesis plays in helping flowers and plants thrive. Students were able to connect classroom learning with nature in such a meaningful and exciting way. Watching them dig, plant, learn, and care for their garden spaces brought so much joy and reminded us how valuable outdoor learning experiences can be for growing young minds.

Day 2: Our Youth Leadership Academy student reviewed the skills they learned from the day before and expanded their understanding of first aid. They learned how to manage burns, frostbite, hypo/hyper-thermia, and various medical conditions that could be encountered on any trip.

Our students were able to learn and apply those skills during various practice scenarios. At the end all our students are now Wilderness First Aid Certified and one step close to becoming a certified Youth Leader.

Thank you Todd, Steve, and Matt for running a great course and motivating our students during their leadership journey.

Day 1 of our Wilderness First Aid Training, where students learned how to administer a primary assessment and manage injuries such as fractures and sprains.

Students are excited about the practical, hands on learning approach to Wilderness First Aid and look forward to the lessons soon to come tomorrow.

Big shout out to Todd, Steve, and Matt for being such amazing and inspiring instructors for our students.

We had such a fun Friday working with P.S. 340 at Van Cortlandt Park. Students rotated through activities: team building games, cleaning up litter in the park, and learning to ride bikes!

They strengthened their bonds with each other through games. The group also learned key tenants of environmental stewardship with for an amazing park cleanup. Many thanks to Kat from for joining us to help teach more students to ride bikes!!

Resilience, Determination, Teamwork, Cooking, Sewing, Graphic Design, Outdoor Safety, skiing/snowboarding are just a few things our students will learn during this Once in a Lifetime trip!! ‼️

This past Friday, the Kinship Climbing Collective hosted an amazing rock climbing session! 🧗

Youth got geared up with harnesses and climbing shoes, then got right into it. Everyone was energized to climb as mentors and youth alike shared their skills and encouragement with the group.
