💙Advancing Donation through Education, Collaboration, & Partnership💚

We are proud to have Lions World Vision Institute's Director of Partner Relations and Recovery Supervisor representing LWVI at the AlloEd Death and Donation Investigation Workshop hosted by HonorBridge in North Carolina!

Over two days, donation professionals and death investigation partners came together to strengthen collaboration, share best practices, and explore ways to preserve and enhance the relationships that are so critical to honoring donor wishes and supporting families.

Death investigators, medical examiners, coroners, and donation organizations all play an important role in the donation process. Opportunities like this allow us to learn from one another, build stronger partnerships, and continue improving the experience for the communities and families we serve.

Thank you to HonorBridge and the AlloEd team for bringing together professionals who are committed to advancing donation through education, collaboration, and partnership. 👏👏👏

🌟Advancing Surgeon Education. Expanding Corneal Treatment Options.🌟

At Lions World Vision Institute (LWVI), surgeon training and education are central to our mission to support the surgical treatment of corneal disease and help restore sight worldwide. 🌎🌎🌎

From sponsoring and participating in programs such as the Cornea Society Fellowship Forum, ARVO Travel Grants, Young Eye Surgeon Training, the Cornea Society and Eye Banking Forum Travel Grants, and hands-on surgical training at ophthalmology conferences, LWVI helps advance clinical excellence in corneal surgery. 🔬

In addition, we provide focused multiday training at our Tampa headquarters and personalized one-on-one training at surgeon facilities, supporting the adoption of advanced techniques in corneal transplantation and treatment.

Together, we are helping restore sight through the gift of corneal tissue — one patient at a time. 👁️👁️👁️

🌸 LWVI Women of Vision Founding Member Spotlight 🌸

Lions World Vision Institute's giving circle Women of Vision is dedicated to advancing pediatric eye care and expanding access through the Vision Health Center.

We’re honored to recognize Dawn Philips as a Founding Member behind this powerful initiative! 👏👏👏

When asked about her connection to this extraordinary movement, Dawn said, "I proudly support LWVI's mission because I have personally witnessed the profound gift of eye tissue donation through a beloved family member who became a donor. Supporting this organization is deeply meaningful to me, as it helps restore sight, advance healing, and honor the lasting legacy that donation creates for families and recipients alike."

Dawn's generosity and support will fuel LWVI's Vision Health Programs for generations to come, ensuring children and families receive critical screenings, eye exams, and life-changing vision care.

Thank you to Dawn for your leadership and for being an integral part of our mission! ❤️

⭐Lions World Vision Institute's Mission Moment⭐

When Ken’s vision began to cloud, he assumed it was a simple cataract— but the truth was more complicated. He also had Fuchs' dystrophy, a condition that made cataract surgery ineffective. Instead of clarity, his sight slipped further into a thick fog.

A lifelong science teacher, Ken struggled to teach, unable to see his hand in front of his face. Panic attacks set in as he imagined a future without sight—a life without teaching, traveling, or seeing his beloved grandchildren.

Ken was no stranger to adversity; a childhood accident left his right arm immobile. But losing his vision felt different. Sight was how he connected to his family, his students, and his purpose. His wife urged him to find joy in other ways, but the fear of becoming someone who needed care, rather than someone who gave it, weighed heavily.

After a long wait, hope returned to Ken in the form of a corneal transplant— and the result was nothing short of miraculous. Suddenly, Ken could see the vibrant faces of his grandchildren, the delicate feathers of a bird outside his window, the shimmer of snow on a mountain slope.

Snowboarding became safer and more exhilarating. Morning coffee came with the quiet wonder of watching eagles fish in the lake. Driving was easier. Most importantly, Ken returned to his classroom, guiding hundreds of students not only in science but in resilience.

Every sunrise, every familiar face, every mountain he descends is a reminder: miracles are real, and sometimes, they come from the generosity of a stranger.
