We took thousands of photos yesterday — and even this album only captures part of what Unity in the Community felt like. 💙

The Kent YMCA was filled with youth, families, neighbors, athletes, community organizations and friends for a day of sports, activities, resources, and connection.

Everywhere we looked, there was another moment we wanted to capture.

So rather than choose just a handful, we're sharing a whole lot of our favorites. Take a look, find someone you know, tag your friends and help us celebrate the many faces of our Kent community.

Supporting foster youth starts with supporting the caregivers by their side.

Through the Y Social Impact Center Caregiver Support Program, families receive practical resources, guidance, and connection as they navigate foster care. And in just two years, the program has grown to support 59 families and 83 youth across South King County.

150 years is a long time to keep showing up.

Before Washington was a state. A gymnasium on the waterfront. Vocational schools when the economy shifted. Doors open to every race and gender. Child care when women entered the workforce. Every time Greater Seattle changed, the Y changed with it.

None of it happened on its own. It happened because people showed up. Volunteers, donors, coaches, partners, neighbors who saw a need and did something about it. They built the last 150 years. They decide what the next 150 look like.

On Saturday, October 10, we celebrate them at Celebrating Community Changemakers at the Hyatt Regency Seattle.

A familiar flag joined a familiar sight on the Salish Sea this week.

In honor of our 150th anniversary, Washington State Ferries flew YMCA of Greater Seattle flags aboard every ferry in service — carrying a symbol of the Y across the same waters that connect so many of the communities we serve.

That connection is more than symbolic. For years, Washington State Ferries has helped thousands of young people, counselors and supplies make their way to and from Camp Orkila on Orcas Island — part of the network of community partners that makes Y experiences possible.

To our friends at Washington State Ferries: thank you for celebrating this milestone with us, and for helping people get where they’re going — in every sense of the phrase. And thanks to Sandra Beaulieu and her daughter Maya Gheewala for thoughtfully sharing their talents and time to document this momentous occasion.

We’re proud to share these waters, this region and this moment with you.
