During this heat wave, all YMCA of Greater Seattle branch lobbies are open to the community as Cooling Centers — Sunday 6/14 - Tuesday 6/16 — no membership required. You're invited to come in, cool down, relax, and hydrate in a safe and welcoming environment. Y members will continue to enjoy full access to all amenities throughout the day, including pools, workout equipment, and other services. Stay safe, stay cool — we’re here for you. 💙

We’re looking forward to Saturday, when YMCA of Greater Seattle President & CEO Loria Yeadon will serve as City University of Seattle’s 2026 Commencement keynote speaker.

This moment feels especially meaningful as the Y celebrates 150 years of serving our region — and as our message of strengthening community, expanding opportunity and helping people reach their fullest potential will be shared with CityU graduates and their families.

We are proud of Loria’s leadership and grateful for this opportunity to lift up our organizations' shared commitment to helping people connect, grow, thrive, and strengthen the communities around them.

🎓 CityU Commencement 2026

Sometimes it's the little things that make someone feel connected. We're glad to be there for our members!

As our members know, the Snoqualmie Valley YMCA | Community Center goes above and beyond to make every Y experience a great one.

Recently, one of our longtime members, Bambi, shared that she had lost her favorite water bottle—a small YMCA-branded Nalgene that she absolutely loved. Unfortunately, we were completely out of them. We checked with other YMCA branches, and they were out too.

But we weren't ready to give up.

Our team reached out to the Association Office in Seattle and had people searching high and low. And believe it or not, one was found. Literally one!

Today, our Executive Director, Diana, had the pleasure of surprising Bambi with her replacement water bottle. 💙

It's a small gesture, but it's a great reminder that the Y is about more than programs and facilities—it's about people, relationships, and making our members feel valued.

We're so glad we could make your day, Bambi! 😊

Education, career growth, and wellbeing are deeply connected — and stronger when organizations work together.

The YMCA of Greater Seattle and City University of Seattle committed this week to establish a new strategic partnership designed to expand access to education, whole-person health, and career pathways.

This collaboration is designed to expand access to education, wellness, and career pathways for YMCA staff, CityU students, faculty, staff, and the broader community.

Through the partnership, the Y and CityU aim to support:

• Scholarships for one YMCA staff member and one Y Scholar
• Career and academic pathways for YMCA staff
• Work-study, job, internship, and practicum opportunities for CityU students at the Y
• Complimentary “Try the Y” memberships for CityU students, faculty, and staff

As the Y celebrates 150 years of service, we’re proud to build partnerships that expand access, remove barriers, and strengthen community wellbeing.

For generations, courageous leaders have helped move our communities forward through compassion, advocacy, and a belief in equity and justice for all.

Over the past 150 years, the YMCA of Greater Seattle has been proud to lift up those leaders and their work in community. This year, we are honored to recognize King County Executive Girmay Zahilay and Attorney and First Lady of King County Joyce Bruce Zahilay with the 2026 Judge Charles V. and Lazelle Johnson Excellence in Social Justice Award at our Celebrating Community Changemakers 150th Anniversary Gala.

As public servants, Executive Zahilay and Attorney Bruce Zahilay have dedicated their careers to expanding opportunity, advancing equity and justice for all, and helping build a more inclusive future for our region. Together, they exemplify the spirit of this award through their commitment to service and their belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to thrive.

This year, Pride hits a little different for us. As we celebrate our 150th anniversary, we are reflecting on a century and a half of community, care, and our commitment to being a place where everyone belongs.
