Transitioning out of foster care can bring new opportunities and challenges. Through the Y Social Impact Center, young people receive support with housing, education, employment, and life skills as they build confidence and independence.

A love of reading starts early! At the Y's Early Education Centers, even our youngest learners are discovering the joy of books and storytelling. Through reading, play, and everyday exploration, we're helping little ones build early literacy skills, spark curiosity, and develop a lifelong love of learning.

What a night!

On Saturday, our community came together for Community Changemakers to celebrate 150 years of the YMCA of Greater Seattle. Together, we raised more than $1.6 million (and counting!) to help build the next 150 years of the Y, for all.

We honored Costco with the A.K. Guy Award for its longstanding commitment to volunteerism and service, and King County Executive Girmay Zahilay and Attorney Joyce Bruce-Zahilay with the Charles V. & Lazell Johnson Excellence in Social Justice Award. We also celebrated our incredible Heroes Every Day award recipients, who show up for their neighbors every single day.

The stories stayed with us. Bellevue Mayor Mo Malakoutian shared how playing basketball at the Y shaped his childhood and his path to public service. Our Chief Development Officer Karen Rodriguez La Paz talked about how the Y was a lifeline for her family. And Langley Foster reminded us why young voices matter, sharing how Washington State YMCA Youth & Government helped her find her purpose.

A huge thank you to the Garfield Jazz Band, our presenting sponsor Sound Transit and all of our sponsors, our auction donors, every guest who raised a paddle, and our amazing staff who made this anniversary year so special.

Couldn't make it? You can still be part of the Y's next chapter. Give today: https://heyor.ca/vGvJ06

Save the date: Community Changemakers returns Friday, September 17, 2027!
