📣Healthcare Partner Shoutout! 📣

The team at Lions World Vision Institute works closely with healthcare organizations throughout the U.S. and today, we'd like to say thank you to our valued partner Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare - TMH! This partnerships is a meaningful reminder of the impact of collaboration in enhancing and healing lives through donation. 💙💚💙💚

We'd like to congratulate two members of Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare who were recently recognized with awards for their leadership and impact. 👏👏👏

🌟Von Knight, House Supervisor was presented with The DAISY Award for Nurse Leaders by The DAISY Foundation! Von’s compassion and dedication show up in such meaningful ways every day. She was nominated for this award by Janet Shipman, Hospital Development at LifeQuest Organ Recovery Services, after the care and support Von provided to her family during the loss of her father.

We are so grateful for the hard work and dedication from Susie, along with Suzanne Walker-Assad, Director of Critical Care and Donor Council Chair at TMH, for keeping everything moving and on track for the team.

🔬Advancing Keratoconus Care Through Innovation & Education🔬

Lions World Vision Institute is proud to recognize Dr. Soosan Jacob as an LWVI Surgeon Ambassador and a global leader in corneal innovation! 👏👏👏

At LWVI conferences, Dr. Jacob generously shares her expertise in OptiGraft® CAIRS (Corneal Allogenic Intrastromal Ring Segments), training surgeons from around the world on this groundbreaking technique that is improving outcomes for patients with keratoconus.

Dr. Jacob developed the CAIRS procedure in 2015 as an alternative to synthetic intracorneal ring segments (ICRS), addressing complications such as extrusion and corneal melts. Because CAIRS uses allogenic corneal tissue, the implanted tissue becomes integrated into the patient's cornea, significantly reducing these risks while offering additional surgical advantages.

What began as an innovative solution has grown into a global movement, with CAIRS procedures now being performed worldwide. Through her commitment to education and collaboration, Dr. Jacob continues to help surgeons adopt this transformative technique and expand access to advanced keratoconus care. 🌍🌎🌏

⭐Lions World Vision Institute's Mission Moment⭐

For Marg, her husband Jon’s story is one of love, resilience, and legacy. Childhood sweethearts from a small Michigan town, they shared 55 years of marriage filled with creativity, adventure, and deep connection.

Jon overcame polio as a child, finding strength through dance—which sparked a lifelong passion for the stage. He spent nearly 70 years directing theater, while Marg worked as the costume manager. Together, they traveled the world, bringing stories to life aboard cruise ships and building a life rooted in purpose.

Jon’s giving spirit reflected a family legacy that began generations ago, when Marg’s great-uncle helped found their local Lions Club, inspired by a blind family member. Eye donation became a deeply held value, passed down through the family—and for Jon, donating was simply part of who he was.

Even as his health declined, Jon remained thoughtful and generous. He and Marg prepared for the end with care and intention. When the time came, saying "yes" to donation was a natural step—a final act of love and continuity.

Now, Jon’s legacy lives on through the gift of sight, and in the lives he touched both on and off the stage. Marg continues to honor him by sharing his story, hoping the recipient sees the world with the same wonder Jon did. His light still shines—in memory, in love, and in vision passed forward.

👏 30 Years of Service as a Lion! 👏

We are thrilled to announce that Lions World Vision Institute President and CEO Jason K. Woody has reached an incredible milestone—30 years of service as a Lion—and has received the prestigious Milestone Chevron Award from Lions Clubs International!

Chevron Awards recognize Lions for their years of dedicated service and commitment to making a difference in their local communities and around the world. Jason's three decades of leadership, service, and dedication embody the Lions' motto: "We Serve."

The connection between Lions World Vision Institute and Lions Clubs International runs deep and is strongly rooted in our mission. In 1973, Lions Club members established what is now known as Lions World Vision Institute after recognizing the need for an eye bank in Central Florida. Since then, LWVI has continued to work closely with Lions Clubs and Lions supporters to elevate standards in sight restoration, tissue transplantation, research, and education. 🔬👁️🥼

Vision has long been at the heart of Lions' service. In 1925, Helen Keller challenged Lions to become "Knights of the Blind in the Crusade Against Darkness," inspiring generations of Lions to champion sight preservation and blindness prevention efforts worldwide. That legacy continues today through organizations like Lions World Vision Institute and the countless Lions who support our mission.

We are incredibly grateful for our shared history and ongoing collaboration with Lions Clubs International and Lions of Multiple District 35. Together, we continue to transform lives through the gift of sight and advance a legacy of service that spans generations.

Congratulations, Jason, on this remarkable achievement and thank you for 30 years of Lionism, leadership, and service. Here's to many more years of partnership and impact! 🎉📣🙌

💙Advancing Donation through Education, Collaboration, & Partnership💚

We are proud to have Lions World Vision Institute's Director of Partner Relations and Recovery Supervisor representing LWVI at the AlloEd Death and Donation Investigation Workshop hosted by HonorBridge in North Carolina!

Over two days, donation professionals and death investigation partners came together to strengthen collaboration, share best practices, and explore ways to preserve and enhance the relationships that are so critical to honoring donor wishes and supporting families.

Death investigators, medical examiners, coroners, and donation organizations all play an important role in the donation process. Opportunities like this allow us to learn from one another, build stronger partnerships, and continue improving the experience for the communities and families we serve.

Thank you to HonorBridge and the AlloEd team for bringing together professionals who are committed to advancing donation through education, collaboration, and partnership. 👏👏👏
