🌸FARM FRESH NEWS🌟

Woo-hoo it's the first week of our farm fresh news series, and you don't want to miss this update…

We had an amazing, hardworking crew of volunteers from Marshalls Distribution/ TJX Foundation come and join us last week on the farm.🚜 With their help we were able to clear out our kitchen beds to help us start our fall planting–get ready for farm fresh kale, collards, and more!

These awesome volunteers also helped harvest flowers for our upcoming Wreath-making Workshop on November 28th 😉💐

🍎 Today is the 10th annual Crunch Heard 'Round the Commonwealth!

Each October, students across Virginia take a big bite out of a fresh, Virginia-grown apple to celebrate Virginia Farm to School Week!
But this celebration is about more than a delicious apple! It encourages healthy eating, supports Virginia farmers, and helps students understand the important connection between local agriculture and the food on their plates.

🌱 **Did you know it's National Farm to School Month?** 🍏

🥕Farm to School Month celebrates food education, school gardens, and lunch trays filled with healthy, local ingredients!

This October, we're celebrating the vibrant connection between our schools and local farms, and what better way to do that than by digging (literally!) into hands-on learning experiences! Project GROWS hosts an array of immersive field trips designed to ignite curiosity in young minds about where their food really comes from. From experiencing a day on our farm to taste-testing the vegetables they'll find growing right here in Virginia soil, students will get to witness the magic of farm-fresh produce and discover the importance of sustainable agriculture.

🍂Fall is upon us, and with fall comes change. After three seasons of dedicated service, our Mobile Market Manager, James, is saying goodbye to Project GROWS as he embarks on an exciting new journey in the Pacific Northwest.

Over the past three years, James has played an important role in shaping and growing our Mobile Market program, including implementing our Fair Pricing model. But perhaps his greatest impact has been the kindness, positivity, and genuine care he brings to every market. We are incredibly grateful for all that James has contributed to Project GROWS and are excited to see where his next adventure takes him.

As we say goodbye to James, we are also excited to welcome Ada into her new role as Mobile Market Coordinator. Ada brings experience in farming, local food procurement, and community engagement, and she has had the opportunity to work alongside James over the past few months as our Mobile Market Operator. Her care for our community and enthusiasm for this work will be wonderful assets to our Mobile Market program.

Please join us in wishing James well on his next adventure and welcoming Ada in her new role!🌟
