Meyer Art Center

Meyer Art Center Meyer Art Center builds community by partnering, educating, celebrating and advocating for the arts.

SCAAC is working to achieve our mission by partnering with local artists to offer high quality art education to community members of all ages, working with the City of Stanwood on public art displays, and celebrating the many talented artists in Stanwood and Camano Island. We are working to create an accessible, welcoming art center for new, emerging and established artists to show their art, teach classes and flourish in a nurturing and creative environment.

Earlier this week, we had the privilege of officially cutting the ribbon for the new student-created murals at Heritage Park! A special thank you once again to the Stanwood-Camano School District, Meyer Art Center, local artists Shogo Ota and Jae Kim, and our talented student artists for bringing this vision to life.

This project represents one of many steps the City is taking to bring public art into community spaces like Heritage Park, creating places that inspire creativity, connection, and pride.

Meet Ruby, another stellar Summer Art Intern! We’re so glad to have you on board! 🤩

“Ruby Smith will be a junior at Stanwood High School in the fall. She enjoys running track, cross country, competing FBLA, paddleboarding and backpacking. She has grown up appreciating the natural beauty and history that makes Stanwood-Camano special. She takes interest in art as a way to express her creativity, tell stories, and see the world from different perspectives. Art allows her to slow down, observe details, and connect with others through shared experiences and ideas. She enjoys making art through photography, sewing, and cooking. She hopes the Meyer Art Center Internship will help her grow both personally and creatively by learning from experienced artists, developing new skills, and gaining a deeper understanding of how art can impact a community. She is excited for the opportunity to challenge herself, meet new people, and contribute to meaningful projects that celebrate local culture and creativity.“

Meyer Art Center is thrilled to welcome youth artists into our inaugral Summer Art Internship Program! Welcome, Ellie! 🤩

“My name is Ellie Olson, and my family has been an active part of the Stanwood-Camano community for six generations. As a dedicated creative, my goal is to become a well rounded multimedia artist by developing both my business skills and my personal craft. I am committed to continuous growth and actively seek to learn new mediums, though I particularly enjoy working with acrylics, watercolor, and charcoal portraits. I am passionate to contribute to this team and create a positive impact through this role.”

✨ We have a new name! ✨

After many years as the Stanwood Camano Arts Advocacy Commission (SCAAC), we're excited to share that we're officially becoming the Meyer Art Center.

While our name is changing, our mission remains the same: bringing people together through creativity, connection, and community.

The new name honors the Meyer family, whose incredible generosity helped turn the dream of a community arts center into something real. Because of their support—and the support of so many of you—we're one step closer to creating a vibrant gathering place for arts, culture, and community in Stanwood-Camano.

We're grateful to everyone who has been part of this journey so far, and we're excited for what's ahead. Here's to the next chapter as the Meyer Art Center! 🎨❤️
