It's National Dessert Day, and we want to celebrate two of our sweetest pups, our 2027 Puppies of the Year, Duo Dogs Mochi and Cannoli. Get to know these sweet boys.

Meet Mochi, aka Mochi Man, Macho Man, Legs, Bubby, or Boopie!

Three words to describe him? Happy, hoppy, floppy! Have you ever seen him hop for joy? Mochi loves saying hello to people, playing with his dog friends, and snuggling up with his favorite stuffed bunny’s ears. As for his future career, he’s considering a few options: Assistance or Facility Dog, where he can be a front door greeter, or CEO of a dog toy company. We’ll have to wait and see where his talents take him!

Meet Cannoli, aka Noli!

This snugglebug is smart, charming, and always the life of the paw-ty! His favorite toy is a Benebone, though he thinks it would be even better if they made a cannoli flavor. Who do we need to email to make that happen? When he’s not enjoying a car ride anywhere, you can find him shadowing his dad, Jasper. His career goal? Becoming an Italian charmer who helps others live their very own Dolce Vita, or the sweet life as an Assistance or Facility Dog!

While these two are busy being adorable, they're also hard at work learning their needed skills with the help of their dedicated volunteer puppy raisers.

Benni may not realize he’s “working” or fully understand the difference he’s making in someone’s day, but one thing is obvious: he is having the time of his life. That happy face says it all. Whether he’s offering a comforting nuzzle, a gentle paw, or simply being there, Benni brings a little more joy wherever he goes.

It takes more than a wagging tail and a love of belly rubs to become a Duo Touch Therapy dog!

Our best Touch Therapy candidates are dogs who are:

Friendly – They genuinely enjoy meeting new people and are comfortable accepting attention from strangers.

Calm and confident – They can stay relaxed in new environments, around unfamiliar sights and sounds, and during unexpected situations.

People-focused – They want to connect with people and enjoy making someone’s day a little brighter.

Well-mannered – Good basic obedience and the ability to listen to their handler are essential.

Adaptable – Our teams visit a variety of environments and meet people of all ages and abilities. A great Touch Therapy dog can adjust to different situations while staying comfortable and engaged.

And most importantly, they enjoy the work! A Touch Therapy dog should find visiting people rewarding and fun.
