Laborers' Local 42 Local 42 was chartered on the 7th day of January 1933. At that time LIUNA was called International Hod Carriers’ Building and Common Laborers’ Union.

Local 42 was a result of the merger of three Locals: Local 22, which was chartered in August 1, 1906, Local 162 which was chartered May 31, 1913 and Local 284 which was chartered April 7, 1914.In August of 2010 Local 1032, Police & Public Employee Union merged with Local 42. This created the Laborers’ Local 42 Law Enforcement Division an. Local 53 merged with Local 42 in March of 2015. We continue to strive for stronger and unified labor movement. LIUNA Local 42 has a proud history of providing the finest representation to the membership. We are united through collective bargaining agreements and strive for better wages and benefits and safer job sites. LIUNA 42 members are on the forefront of the construction industry by being a hardworking, skilled and reliable workforce. LIUNA Local 42’s membership is actively involved in member initiatives, community politics as well as volunteering for local charitable causes.

We’re proud to have one of our own stepping into the ring this weekend!

Local 42 journeyman Laborer Henry Young will take on Joseph Williams this Saturday, October 17, as part of the Knockout Bullying Initiative. The bout will also mark Henry’s final amateur fight before he takes the next step into the professional boxing ranks.

Henry brings the same determination, discipline, and hard work to the ring that Laborers bring to the jobsite every day, and his Local 42 brothers and sisters will be cheering him on.

Good luck, Henry! We’re proud to have you representing Local 42.

A narrow majority in Jefferson City shouldn’t be enough to put changes to a voter-approved initiative on the ballot. Amendment 6 raises the requirement to 80% in both the House and Senate. Strengthen protections for your vote. Vote YES on 6.

One of our LIUNA Brothers and his family could use our support right now.

Randall Rulo's wife, Natalie, is currently in hospice care after a difficult battle with brain cancer. Randall has stepped away from work to be by her side and care for their two young sons during this heartbreaking time.

No family should have to worry about making ends meet while going through something like this. We're asking our Laborer family to come together and help ease some of that burden so Randall can focus on being there for the people he loves.

If you're able to make a donation, any amount would mean so much to this family. Even sharing this post can make a difference.

Please keep Natalie, Randall, and their boys in your thoughts as they navigate the difficult days ahead.

Amendment 6 puts a strong safeguard around citizen-approved laws. Before lawmakers can send changes to a voter-approved initiative back to the ballot, 80% of both the Missouri House and Senate must agree. Your vote should not be easy for politicians to undo.
