Audrey felt healthy. She had no symptoms.
But a routine mammogram revealed Stage 1 breast cancer.
Audrey, a nurse at SSM Health - Janesville, knows firsthand why regular mammogram screenings matter. Despite having no signs or symptoms of breast cancer, her screening detected cancer early, when treatment is often most effective.
Through surgery, radiation and recovery, Audrey leaned on her faith, family, friends and care team while continuing to care for patients herself.
Now, during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, she's sharing her story with a simple message:
βPlease get your mammogram. The earlier breast cancer is found, the easier it is to treat and the better the outcome...it can save your life.β
Audrey's experience is a reminder that breast cancer doesn't always cause symptoms in its earliest stages, which is why routine mammograms play such an important role in early detection.
Audrey's story is about more than a breast cancer diagnosis. It's a story of resilience, faith, kindness, and the people who helped her find strength along the way.
