Going for a bike ride? Remember: just like seat belts help save lives in a motor vehicle crash, bicycle helmets save lives, too. When biking, always wear a correctly fitting helmet.

The Impaired Driving Prevention Program at Prevention First, is joining the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in spreading awareness about bicycle safety among all road users this May.

For more information about bicycle safety, visit NHTSA.

Law enforcement offers a unique and valuable perspective on substance use prevention. Because prevention coalitions strategize from multiple angles, they can bring broader perspectives to evidence-based strategies to address issues before they become law enforcement problems. Coalition membership fosters positive collaboration within a community to prevent youth substance use, benefiting law enforcement and the community. The APRC has created an infographic highlighting the benefits of law enforcement/coalition engagement.

Traffic safety is a shared responsibility! This May, Prevention First's Impaired Driving Prevention Program, is joining National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in spreading awareness about bicycle safety among all road users.

If you see a bicyclist, slow down and maintain a safe distance: bicyclists are most often killed by drivers who strike them with the front of their vehicles, often at high speeds. Never drive distracted or impaired, and look left-right-left and behind when turning right on red. Yield to bicycles as you would other vehicles.

For more information about bicycle safety, visit NHTSA.
