Friends, meet Nick, our operations manager! Nick travels all over the Ozarks in our refrigerated van moving food for farmers in our network. He also helps to keep our operations at the farms running smoothly!

Did you know? Celery is packed with fiber, vitamin K, and antioxidants! Celery loves consistent moisture and cooler temperatures, which makes it a little high-maintenance, but Farmer Kevin thinks it’s worth it.

This connection feels especially meaningful to us. A few weeks ago, we had the chance to visit Dave and Ann of at Elder Farms in Mount Vernon. During our visit, we learned that a couple of their employees have a side project growing garlic on their farm, so it was especially exciting to see those fresh garlic scapes making their way into on C-Street this week.

These are the kinds of connections that strengthen our local food system: growers supporting growers, local farms supplying local restaurants, and relationships growing right alongside the food. Thank you for being part of the journey with us!

Flowers make people happy. It’s that simple.

A handful of blooms on the kitchen table, a sunflower growing by the sidewalk, or fresh-cut flowers shared with a neighbor can brighten an entire week! Gardens feed more than our bodies they feed joy, and community too.

SCG has 17 employees! We will be sharing each employee and their position with SCG over the coming weeks so you can be sure to say “Hi” when you see them!

Kevin Prather is our education lead for vegetable production. He and his wife, Carsen own Hazel Pine Farm. We are happy to have them as part of our community network of knowledgeable farmers!

This time of year rarely waits for perfect weather, so we planted between the storms and let the prairie rain do some of the watering for us. There’s something hopeful about transplanting young tomato plants while the spring rains roll through! We love the reminder that every harvest starts with a little faith in the season ahead.

Barn Market in Lebanon has quickly become one of those places that feels like it belongs to the community already. Even through the winter months, they stayed busy serving coffee and baked goods, soup and more. It was great to visit and talk more about local food connections and value-added products. We are looking forward to helping them promote and watching them grow.
