What happens when leaders are invited to see behind the uniform?
They see more than aircraft, equipment, training, and military installations. They see the people, families, sacrifice, talent, and readiness mission that strengthen Arkansas every day.
Camp Alliance was honored to partner with the Arkansas National Guard for America 250: Behind the Uniform — a mission-learning experience led by Arkansas Adjutant General Chad Bridges and supported by the incredible Arkansas National Guard team.
The day brought industry, philanthropy, workforce, education, and community leaders together to better understand the realities behind military service and the opportunities we have to build stronger support systems around those who serve.
We began at Fort FireFly, where the impact of early education became clear. For service-connected families, childcare is not just childcare. It is readiness, workforce support, peace of mind, and the ability for families to thrive through nontraditional schedules and deployments.
We also shared how Camp Alliance is working to professionalize early education through affordability, teacher support, and future-educator partnerships with T.E.A.C.H. and the University of Arkansas–Fort Smith.
Participants then went behind the mission at Ebbing Air National Guard Base and Fort Chaffee, learning about Arkansas’s National Guard and active-duty missions, training, equipment, and the skillsets our Soldiers and Airmen bring to our state.
One thing was unmistakable: our service-connected community is one of Arkansas’s greatest workforce assets.
The leadership, discipline, technical training, adaptability, and lived experience of our Soldiers, Airmen, Veterans, spouses, and families should be seen, valued, and connected to real opportunity.
Supporting military readiness is not just a military issue. It is a workforce, childcare, education, economic development, and community stability issue.
We are grateful for the partners helping build solutions for military-connected families, including Walmart Foundation, Town Branch Foundation, Excellerate Foundation, LISC Foundation, Monarch Foundation, Simmons Foods, Kiefer-Sage, RAISE US, Arkansas LAUNCH, and Shared Service Data partners.
