Children's Transplant Initiative

Children's Transplant Initiative Children's Transplant Initiative (CTI) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization founded by Ross and Cheryl Witty.

Their daughter, Kimmy received a kidney transplant from her dad in 2011. "When our journey began, our doctors made sure we knew exactly what to expect with regards to the transplant procedure, recovery and aftercare. What we didn't have was someone to tell us how it would impact all other aspects of our lives. CTI was created to provide education, guidance and support to the families of children g

oing through the same process we did." Ross Witty, Co-Founder

Meet Nathan, a remarkable 15-year-old who is currently waiting for a heart transplant in our CTI housing. Despite facing extraordinary challenges, Nathan continues to demonstrate incredible resilience, courage, and unwavering determination to move forward.

In this episode of Super Brave Kids with the talented Chloe Temtchine, Nathan shares how choosing his beliefs, maintaining hope, and focusing on a positive outlook help him navigate the uncertainties of waiting for a new heart. His strength is a powerful reminder that while we cannot always control our circumstances, we can choose how we respond to them.

Nathan never gives up. His story is one of bravery, perseverance, and the extraordinary resilience of the human spirit.

The CTI Team is excited to officially welcome Kimmy Witty as our new Family Services Coordinator!

Almost 15 years ago, Kimmy received the kidney transplant that changed all our lives. Her living donor was her dad. Five years after her transplant, the Lord placed a calling on her heart to come alongside other pediatric transplant families and provide the support and encouragement they needโ€”a vision that helped inspire the founding of Childrenโ€™s Transplant Initiative.
As a pediatric transplant recipient herself, Kimmy brings a unique and deeply personal perspective to this role. In addition to her own transplant journey, she has valuable experience as a Child Life Specialist and specialized training in supporting pediatric patients, families, and siblings navigating medical trauma.
We are incredibly grateful to have Kimmy officially join the CTI family. Her passion, experience, and heart for service will help us expand our Hope LifeLine program and create even more meaningful opportunities to support transplant families through personalized services, programs, and events.

Please join us in giving Kimmy a warm CTI welcome! We are thrilled to have her on our team and look forward to the impact she will make in the lives of the families we serve.

๐ŸŒŽ๐Ÿ’š June 6 is World Transplant Day.

Today, we celebrate the incredible gift of transplantation and the lives forever changed through organ, eye, and tissue donation.

At Children's Transplant Initiative, we honor the brave patients, devoted caregivers, generous donors, donor families, and medical teams who make hope possible every day.

Transplantation is more than a medical miracleโ€”itโ€™s a second chance at birthdays, milestones, family moments, and brighter futures.

As we celebrate, we also recognize the ongoing need for registered donors and continued support for transplant families across the country.

Together, we are creating hope, one life at a time. ๐Ÿ’š

Sweet, precious Kylie is in the loving arms of Jesus and our hearts are breaking for her family as they grieve this incredible loss of their beautiful baby girl! Kylie was able to be an organ donor and she was able to donate her liver and both kidneysโ€ฆ she truly is a hero and quite the warrior! Please join us in praying for her family during this difficult time! Her family will always be a part of the CTI family! ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’š

Our hearts are heavy today as we share the passing of baby Kylie Overfield. ๐Ÿ’”

Many of you followed Kylie's journey with us here at FOX 26 when the brave infant traveled to Texas Children's Hospital in Houston, capturing the nation's attention as she underwent a rare, life-saving double-lung transplant.

Though her time with us was far too short, little Kylieโ€™s spirit, her family's unwavering faith, and the selflessness of organ donation gave her a beautiful second chance to experience life and let her voice be heard.

We extend our deepest condolences, thoughts, and prayers to the Overfield family during this incredibly difficult time. Rest in peace, sweet Kylie. ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธโœจ

We have some great people who would love to visit with you if you have ever considered becoming a living kidney donor!

We have some great people who would love to visit with you if you have ever considered becoming a living kidney donor!

Did you know you have the power to change a life? ๐Ÿ’š

Right now, over 90,000 people in the United States are waiting for a kidney transplant. The wait for a deceased donor can take anywhere from 2 to 10 yearsโ€”time that many patients simply donโ€™t have.

But there is an incredible alternative: a living kidney donation can change everything:

โฑ๏ธ Drastically cuts wait times: From years down to an average of just 120 days through the National Kidney Registry (NKR).
โณ Lasts significantly longer: A kidney from a living donor typically thrives for 20โ€“40 years, compared to 8โ€“15 years from a deceased donor.

You only need one kidney to live a full, healthy life. By sharing your spare, you can give someone their future back.

Help us reach our mission of mobilizing 7,000 living donors! ๐Ÿ’ช Learn how you can start your journey or share this post to spread the word.
