KING OF SWING NEWS!

Sometimes an event takes on a life of its own and give the right circumstances, grows into something that is difficult to define. Such is the case with King of Swing Charities. For twenty years we gathered as a group of supporters, friends, family, classmates … a TEAM … all working together to sponsor an event celebrating the children of Make-A-Wish here in Houston and in doing so, raising monies to help fund special wishes made these medically compromised children.

Some might be surprised at the number of people who continue to express sincere interest in King of Swing and profoundly miss our year celebration. Some even continue to send checks! We thank those supporters and ask that you keep us in mind and stay tuned as what the future might possibly bring.

WE raise our glasses to you, our family, our friends and even to the strangers who became ardent supporters. Every year you showed up and opened hearts and wallets for our beautiful MAW kids. “Thank you” doesn’t begin to express how grateful we all are - especially the hundreds of children who lives we have indirectly touched.

Hey Everyone! We are putting together a memory page to celebrate Chris Newton's birthday. He would have been turning 50 this year.

Please take a few minutes to contribute with a photo and... and/or message, if you like.

With no King of Swing this year because of the Covid-19 virus/disease, we were thinking that it would cool if we all take a shot of Crown Royal (Chris' favorite) or ANY beverage of your choice on June 2nd (tomorrow) to honor on would have been Chris' 50th birthday.

Our thoughts are that on tomorrow, Tuesday, June 2nd, you can go to this website:

KING OF SWING NEWS FOR 2020!

This is tough. For nineteen straight years King of Swing Charities, along with friends and family and even strangers have come together for a weekend of fun, fellowship, and community all for a great cause … Make A Wish of Texas Gulf Coast and Louisiana and the priceless population they serve. Sadly, this year will be different.

Because of a myriad of reasons, including virus protocols, The Woodlands Resort closed their doors for several months. We are sad to officially announce that our King of Swing weekend will be postponed until 2021 (TBT).

WE raise our glasses to you, our family, our friends and even to the strangers who became ardent supporters. Every year you showed up and opened hearts and wallets for our beautiful MAW kids. “Thank you” doesn’t begin to express how grateful we all are - especially the hundreds of children who lives we have indirectly touched.

All eyes are on 2021 with a vision to build on our first twenty years and to deliver more great experiences together!

SAVE THE DATE TO CELEBRATE the 20th ANNIVERSARY FOR JUNE 2021!

Please join our King of Swing family at the Woodlands Resort and Conference Center as we celebrate our 20th Christopher James Newton Memorial weekend benefitting the children of our Houston Make-A-Wish chapter. Proceeds from this event support wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions and allows the MAW team to continue to say YES to every eligible child!

King of Swing Charities, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, works to raise money in support of children through Make-A-Wish in memory of Christopher James Newton. All profits realized from events associated with The Christopher James Newton Memorial Weekend are donated to the Texas Gulf Coast and Louisiana Chapter of Make-A-Wish, based here in Houston. We put the FUN in fundraising!
