Introducing “The Humble Partner Project” 📦

Furniture poverty isn’t about decor. It’s about having the basics that make a home feel safe, stable, and livable. Today, 32% of people in the U.S. experience . Families moving out of homelessness often enter empty homes without beds, dressers, couches, or other essentials.

And those missing pieces matter. Without basic furniture, people report poor sleep, physical pain, emotional distress, and difficulty feeling settled at home.

Furniture can change that. After receiving furniture:
• 9 in 10 people feel more comfortable at home
• 8 in 10 feel more stable
• 7 in 10 report better physical and mental health

That’s why we’re launching , a national in-kind initiative connecting corporate partners with families who need five essentials most:

🪑 Rugs
🪑 Dressers
🪑 Pillows
🪑 Platforms/box springs
🪑 Curtain rods

If you know a company that could help, tag them below. If you work in home goods, design, manufacturing, or distribution, we’d love to connect!

🗝️ Right now, families are moving into housing with little more than a key in hand.

Together, we can ensure they receive something even more important: a place that feels like home; a space filled with comfort, dignity, and the chance to begin again.

Your support makes that possible. Your generosity turns empty rooms into fresh starts.

If you’re able, please join us in welcoming the next family home by donating at the link in our bio.

From an empty house to a new beginning. When families leave homelessness, they often receive a key to an empty apartment:
🛏️ No bed. 🛋️ No couch. 🪑 No dining table.

Your support transforms an empty space into a place where healing, stability, and hope can begin.

As we welcome August, we’re shifting our focus to another Humble Design core value: empathy. Empathy means listening first, seeing the person behind the story, and designing with compassion.

Follow along this month as we explore how empathy shapes our work, our homes, and the way we serve our community.

Reach out to hear more about our core values, or visit humbledesign.org/approach to learn how we put them into action.

Legacy giving is generosity that lives beyond us. 🧡

It ensures families rebuilding their lives will always have a place to land and a place to grow. Legacy gifts create stability for generations and reflect the values you carry: justice, equity, dignity, and care.

And legacy giving isn’t only for later in life — many people choose to shape their legacy now, as a natural extension of the causes they believe in.

A legacy gift can be as simple as adding one sentence to a will or naming Humble Design as a beneficiary. It’s a powerful way to say: everyone deserves a home.

Today is Day: a perfect moment to pass forward something you no longer need.

Your gently used furniture and household items create someone’s new home:
🛋️ A sofa becomes a gathering place.
🌷 A table becomes a fresh start.
🛌 A bed becomes safety.

Giving something away isn’t just decluttering, it’s that creates stability for a family rebuilding their life.

Consider becoming an in-kind partner of ours, or donating gently used furniture to one of our warehouses.

Advocacy is generosity, and this year’s National Alliance to End Homelessness conference reminded us just how powerful that generosity can be.

A few messages stayed with us:
✨ “Homelessness is not inevitable. It is created… and allowed.” — Maya Wiley
✨ “It always seems impossible until it’s done.” — Nelson Mandela
✨ “Before we can build a better world, we have to believe one is possible.” — Shalom Mulkey
✨ “Love is not separate from the fight. Love is the reason for the fight.”

Advocacy is giving your voice, your courage, and your belief in a better future. It’s standing up so injustice doesn’t become normal.

If you feel inspired, here’s how you can give through advocacy:
💛 Learn about your local Continuum of Care
💛 Support housing solutions in your community
💛 Use your voice to push for change

Advocacy is generosity. Generosity is how we build a future where stability is possible for everyone.
