Mental Health Awareness Month is ending, but the work continues.

Every home we furnish supports healing, safety, and stability for families emerging from homelessness.
A furnished home reduces stress, restores dignity, and helps families rebuild routines that support long‑term well‑being.

Because mental health begins at home — all year long.

Comment with something that made your home feel safe growing up. ✨

Humble Design honors the fallen, and supports those still fighting to rebuild.

Today, we remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. In their honor, we remain committed to serving veterans emerging from homelessness — helping create homes filled with dignity, comfort, and hope.

Our offices are closed today as we pause to reflect and remember.

Trauma-informed design isn’t about aesthetics — it’s about mental health.

Families emerging from homelessness often move into empty spaces with nothing but a key. No bed. No table. No sense of safety.

Humble Design transforms empty units into fully furnished homes so families can focus on healing instead of surviving.

Because safety, comfort, and predictability aren’t luxuries, they’re essential for trauma recovery.

We rebuild the home so families can rebuild the mind.

Dignity is measurable and the data proves it.

The Homelessness Hub study found that families served by Humble Design experience:
🧠 Improved mental health
💤 Better sleep
🛟 Increased feelings of safety
🧑‍🧒‍🧒 Stronger family routines
🏡 97.7% housing retention after one year

This is what happens when a home becomes a place of healing. Dignity IS mental health care.

Design has the power to do far more than shape a room. It can shape a life.

At Humble Design, we see this every day as we transform empty spaces into dignified homes for families emerging from homelessness. It’s the moment when a house becomes a place of safety, identity, and belonging and it’s made possible by the design community.

We’re excited to share that our founder, , will join an incredible group of leaders at for Designing for Dignity: a conversation about how design can be a catalyst for stability, healing, and long‑term housing success.

📅 Monday, May 18

One of our May book spotlights, just in time for Mother’s Day. 💛

A Chair for My Mother by Vera B. Williams is a story about a mom, a grandma, and a daughter saving coins to buy one perfect chair after losing everything. It’s about starting over with the people you love, and the comfort of a home rebuilt together.

We see this story play out every week. A mother walks into a home we’ve furnished and sits down on a couch that’s hers. Sometimes it’s the first time she’s exhaled in months.

This Mother’s Day, we’re thinking about every mom who’s rebuilding — one room, one moment, one chair at a time.

💛 Give the gift of home this Mother’s Day. Every dollar helps furnish a fresh start: humbledesign.org/donate

Joy. Tears. Relief. Home. ✨

After escaping domestic violence and the homelessness that followed, she walked through a door that was finally fully hers. This moment — the happy tears, the kids shrieking, the hands over the heart — this is is exactly why we do what we do.

Welcome home. 🏠🧡

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. 🧡🧠 At Humble Design, we see every day how much home matters.

A furnished home helps families sleep better, feel safer, and rebuild routines after the trauma of homelessness. A bed, a table, a place to sit together — these simple things make a huge difference in mental well-being.

Mental health begins at home. And every home we furnish is a step toward healing.

🧡 You can be part of that healing. Donate, volunteer, or share this post to help a family come home. Visit humbledesign.org for more info.

It’s the last week of Earth Month — but at Humble Design, Earth Month never ends. 🌎💚

Every time we furnish a home for a family emerging from homelessness, we divert about 3,300 pounds of furniture from landfills.

Instead of ending up in a landfill, those items become:
✨ A child’s first real bed
✨ A safe place for a parent to rest
✨ A dining table where routines return
✨ A home that heals

This is what circularity looks like when it’s rooted in dignity. Thank you for helping us create homes, reduce waste, and support families all year long — not just in April! 🧡🛌

Leaving furniture poverty changes everything.

8 in 10 families feel more stable after receiving furniture. Furniture supports sleep, routines, comfort, confidence, and connection.

Furniture isn’t a luxury, it’s the foundation of stability. Humble Design transforms empty units into fully furnished homes.
