Today, we joined in Lansing as they officially submitted hundreds of thousands of signatures to qualify the Money Out of Politics initiative for the November ballot.

Working people are tired of a system where corporate donors and monopoly utilities have more influence than the people who keep this state running. This initiative is about accountability, transparency and democracy. It’s about making sure government answers to voters, not corporations.

Michigan home care workers are done being ignored. We’re in Lansing today demanding real investment in care: higher wages, full funding for home care, protection of the wage passthrough, and support for a strong first union contract.
Our communities can’t wait.

On April 15, home care workers from across Michigan went to Lansing to rally, march and meet with lawmakers to make our voices heard. Our demands are clear: Invest in care TODAY! Fully fund the historic home care legislation passed in 2024, fully fund our union contract, and protect and expand the wage passthrough. We will keep coming back until our communities get the care they deserve.

Last week, Michigan home care worker and SEIU Healthcare Michigan member Erica was in Washington, D.C. making her voice heard. She stood alongside advocates and Rep. Debbie Dingell to push for real investment in care through the Long-Term Care Workforce Support Act and the HCBS Access Act. Care work is essential!
