💔 TWO MORE OWNER SURRENDERS… WELCOME POPPA & FARRAH TO MFP. 💔Today we welcomed two more dogs whose lives have changed once again. They don’t understand why they’re here, but we’re going to make sure this is the beginning of something better.

🐶 Poppa is an 8-year-old Bichon mix, about 20 pounds. His owner got him about a year ago from someone who could no longer afford to care for him. Now, one year later, Poppa has been surrendered again. He struggles with allergies and still needs help with basic obedience and training. At 8 years old, we desperately want his next home to be his last home. ❤️

🐾 Farrah is a 2.5-year-old Chihuahua weighing only 12 pounds. Farrah recently had puppies and arrived to us suffering from mastitis. Unfortunately, we were not given information about where her puppies are or what happened to them. 💔 Right now our priority is Farrah. She needs veterinary care and antibiotics to treat her symptoms and get her comfortable and healthy again.

These are the realities of rescue. Sometimes animals come to us with medical problems, behavioral needs and pieces of their stories missing. We take them anyway.

Please help us welcome Poppa and Farrah to Mercy Full Project. They deserve stability, patience, medical care and eventually families who will promise them forever.

Every adoption means another animal is leaving MFP and starting the life they always deserved.

And while we celebrate, we also want to remind everyone who is still looking to adopt: please trust and respect our process. 🙏

We didn’t create our adoption process to make things difficult or to bother anyone. We created it because these animals have already been through enough, and it is our responsibility to make sure they are placed in the very best home possible.

We share everything we know about each animal. We ask questions. We require families to participate in the process. And whenever possible, we give families the opportunity to Foster-to-Adopt so everyone has time to make sure it is truly the right match.

It takes patience. Sometimes it takes a little extra time. But this process has been extremely successful, and every happy tail reminds us why we do it. ❤️

Hillsborough County has more than 1.57 MILLION residents.

Yet only 2,421 people have signed the petition for a new county animal shelter.

That’s less than 0.2% of our population.

The current Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center is nearly 40 years old, has no air conditioning in the kennels, and takes in thousands of animals every year. These dogs and cats deserve better—and they need more people to speak up.

❤️‍🩹 HEARTWORM POSITIVE DOES NOT MEAN UNADOPTABLE. ❤️‍🩹

Some of the most incredible dogs at Mercy Full Project are being overlooked for just two words on their profile:

Heartworm Positive.

We need our community to LOOK PAST THE DIAGNOSIS and see the dog. 🐶❤️

Heartworm is treatable, and MFP covers the cost of their heartworm treatment. Many of our heartworm-positive dogs are already undergoing treatment, while others are in the process of starting or completing it.

They don’t need you to be afraid of their diagnosis.

They need you to give them a HOME. 🏡

And for the entire month of SEPTEMBER, we’re giving our community one more reason to take that chance:

🚨 ALL ADOPTION FEES ARE WAIVED FOR HEARTWORM-POSITIVE DOGS! 🚨

Yes — $0 adoption fee.
And their heartworm treatment is still covered by MFP.

Scenthound South Tampa has been Approved by Monty 💙❤️ Just look at his beautiful before and after pics!! Hi, I’m Monty 🐾❤️

I’m an 11-month-old chow chow. I’m a sweet, loving boy with a big heart and an even bigger love for my people.

If you’re looking for a loyal companion who just wants to be by your side, I’m your guy. I absolutely love pets, attention, and spending time with the people I trust ❤️

I’m playful and full of personality—I LOVE my toys and my favorite part of the day is my morning zoomies after breakfast (they’re guaranteed to make you smile 😄)

I’m fully potty trained, crate trained, leash trained, and very well-behaved in the home. I’m still getting used to some routines, but I’m learning quickly and doing great

I can be a little distracted on walks (there’s just so much to look at!), and sometimes I stop to take it all in—but with some continued training, I’ll keep improving every day

I get along great with other dogs and have been very friendly with new people I’ve met. I greet everyone with a wagging tail and a happy attitude

While I’m very people-friendly, it’s important to know that Chow Chows are naturally very loyal, independent, and strong-willed. Because of that, I’ll need a home with structure, consistent training, and preferably someone with experience with the breed to help me thrive

I’d do best in a home with a fenced yard where I can explore at my own pace and enjoy my time outside. I also take my time with potty breaks—I’m not a rush kind of guy

I’m okay being left alone for short periods and will patiently wait for you to come back—usually right by the window

💌 A word from my foster:
“He’s been such a good boy and hasn’t gotten into anything while I’m gone. He’s loving, friendly, and just wants to be close to his people. He might hate the vacuum… but he sheds, so he’ll have to learn to live with it 😂”

🚨 MASSIVE INTAKE — 18 ANIMALS NEED US TODAY 🚨

Today, Mercy Full Project is taking in 13 DOGS and 5 STRAY CATS. 💔

The dogs are a heartbreaking result of multiple accidental litters involving Dachshunds and Pit Bulls. The adults and puppies are all connected through different litters, and now we are being forced to step in before this cycle continues.

13 dogs. 5 cats. 18 lives in ONE intake.

And we are doing this while we are still experiencing cases of kennel cough and respiratory symptoms, making foster homes more important than ever.
