We’re looking good for the Armory Gardens Community Yard Sale ☀️🪧

Sunday, 4/19, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Here’s the most updated map—right now we’ve got 12+ families and organizations participating (with a few teaming up at shared locations), so there should be a great mix of stuff across the neighborhood.

Please DO help spread the word and share the details with your social networks, friends, and family.

We’ll have printed copies of the map available at **2919 W Cass St.**

Also, thank you 🙏 to everyone who has already donated items for the AG fundraiser—we really appreciate it! We’ll still be accepting donations of items to sell up through the start of the sale tomorrow.

Weather’s looking lovely for a day of snagging deals—mid 80s, partly cloudy. 🌤️

Any questions, message or comment here.

Thanks everyone—see you out there! 🏡

Southwest Florida Water Management District has passed a Modified Phase III "Extreme" Water Shortage due to ongoing dry conditions across our region. Tampa Water Department customers cannot irrigate lawns more than once a week and only on their designated watering day (no change).

📅 Starting April 3, 2026: Additional restrictions apply, including:
• Irrigation is prohibited between 4am and 8pm (shortened hours)
• Handwatering and microirrigation is allowed on any day, but is now prohibited between 8am and 6pm
• No pressure washing for aesthetic purposes. Pressure washing in preparation for painting and sealing is allowed
• The use of decorative fountains is limited to 4 hours per day

Why does this matter? Outdoor watering can account for up to 50% of your home’s water use. Following our outdoor watering rules is essential to protecting our water supply.

What’s that big crane st 2500 block of Kennedy doing?

So glad you ask!

That is part of a development, now named the Avery, that the developer proactively engaged with the neighborhood regarding propsed design. As a result some neighborhood concerns over parking, size, and licatiin on yhe lot were addressed fo final design thet was approved by the city. This was a few years back so good to see they are finally moving project forward. The location on the Kennedy commercial corridor was a major reason such a latge (6 stories) project was approved by the city.

🙌 It’s Not Too Late—Give Now & Be Part of the Impact

As our Giving Campaign comes to a close, we’re reminded of what’s possible when a neighborhood comes together. Take a look at these beautiful memories from our past.

If each us gave just $1, it would add up to real change—
💛 More moments of connection
🎨 More creativity on our streets
🏡 More care for neighbors who need it
🌿 More beauty and safety in our shared spaces
🗳️ More power to shape our future as a community

Give today and be a part of this campaign and the story of our success as we build the next chapter of Armory Gardens.

💐 To everyone who gave, shared, commented, or cheered us on: thank you! You’re proof that community is built by showing up for one another.

Let’s finish strong. Let’s show what’s possible.

Did you know that the land around Armory Gardens has deep roots?

Once known as Benjamin Field—donated in 1896—it welcomed the Rough Riders before the Spanish‑American War.

Later came the Fort Homer W. Hesterly Armory, built under the New Deal and dedicated in 1941. For decades, it was both a military stronghold and a beloved local gathering space, filled with concerts, community events, and lifelong memories.

Our neighborhood isn’t new; it’s built on layers of community, history, and shared stories.

Today, the historic armory houses the Tampa Jewish Community Center, a reminder that change can honor the past and serve the present.

Our goal with this campaign is to build on that legacy by:
** Creating more spaces for gathering and celebration
** Supporting neighbors in need through community funds and care
** Partnering with the city to add green spaces, sidewalks, and safer streets
** Strengthening our civic voice in urban planning and local decisions
** Bringing public art and murals into our streets

Let’s make sure Armory Gardens continues to evolve with intention, inclusion, and pride.

💚 Will you help us carry that history forward?

🦄 Armory Gardens is not a fantastic neighborhood because of cool or beautiful houses—although we have those. Armory Gardens is a fantastic neighborhood because of its families, friends, longtime residents, and new neighbors.

Today, consider sharing YOUR stories:
💙 Why do you love this place?
💐 What does this community mean to you?
🤝 What do you hope to see next for our neighborhood and our neighbors?

Leave a comment and feel free to share a photo of your favorite community moment.

With more funding, we can do help celebrate what truly makes our neighborhood special—the people.

Your donation to our campaign means more memories, more growth, more togetherness, and—above all—the strength of a village to lean on when things get tough.

Because of supporters like you, Armory Gardens already has the bones of a vibrant, inclusive neighborhood.

We now have Vila Brothers Park, a beautiful space dedicated to seven local brothers who served their country.

The JCC converted the old armory into a community center where all are welcome.

Our community events attracted surrounding neighborhoods, the mayor, and the news, all while bringing joy and connection to all who attended.

This campaign is the rudder pushing Armory Gardens even further—

🧡 Stronger Community Bonds
• Block parties & festivals
• Outdoor movie nights
• Family-friendly neighborhood meetups

🏡 Support for Neighbors in Need
• Emergency assistance & home upkeep help
• Meal trains, yardwork support, storm prep
• No one slips through the cracks

🎨 More Art & Creative Spaces
• Murals and community art
• Celebrations of local talent
• Playful, colorful public spaces

🌿 Greener, Safer, More Beautiful Streets
• Sidewalks, bike lanes, pedestrian paths
• Native plant landscaping, benches, signage
• City partnerships to beautify faster

🗳️ A More Empowered Civic Voice
• Civic engagement & candidate forums
• Representation in city planning & budgets
• Residents shaping the future of our neighborhood

💥Your donation today helps us say YES to bold ideas while creating real impact for real people.
