Our South Padre Island Ocean Rescue lifeguards traded the beach for the classroom and had a blast visiting Derry Elementary! We got to share some beach safety tips, show off our rescue equipment, and teach students all about staying safe in and around the water. It was so much fun seeing all the excitement, curiosity, and great questions from the kids! Thank you to Derry Elementary for having us and letting us bring a little piece of the beach to your school! 🌊

Some of our firefighters/lifeguards headed offshore to the oil rigs to get some dive time in and sharpen their skills🤿 Big thanks to Dr. Panzer for inviting us out and putting this training together, and to Brownsville Fire for leading the way and helping make it happen. We’re still in the early stages, but we’re putting in the work and building the foundation for a future dive team ready to serve South Padre Island and the surrounding communities🤙🏽

While on vacation in Mallorca, Spain, Padre Beach Rescue Lifeguard Diego Ramon spent some time swimming and checking out the beaches around Palma. While visiting Cala Major Beach, Diego had the chance to meet two of the local lifeguards and talk with them about water safety, lifeguarding, and our experiences working on the beach.

The lifeguards were awesome and do a fantastic job keeping the beach safe. It was a pretty cool experience meeting lifeguards on the other side of the Atlantic and getting to see another beach from their perspective.

Labor Day exists for one main reason: to give hardworking people a well-deserved break and honor the contributions workers make every single day.

​If you want to make the absolute most of your time off, South Padre Island is the smartest move you can make. With great water, non-stop adventure, and an unbeatable coastal atmosphere, SPI is the best beach in Texas and an absolute paradise on earth. You earned every bit of this long weekend.

​While you are down here, do yourself a favor. Set your work email strictly to out-of-office, put the work phone on silent, and leave the stress behind. Work will still be there on Tuesday.

Our mornings on the beach usually start with a stretch and workout, and it’s always great when beachgoers decide to join us. It’s a good way to get moving, have some fun, and spend part of the morning together while enjoying the beach.

We really enjoy these moments with the community and appreciate everyone who takes the time to join us. This is what makes South Padre Island such a great place to be.
