We are saddened to share the news that our beloved Ducky Duck has passed away.

Ducky Duck was a local muscovy duck that had been coming to our center for nearly a decade. For many of our guests, seeing Ducky Duck lead his mallard and mottled duck friends around our gardens was a highlight of their visit. For SPIBNCAS staff and volunteers, he was an honorary SPIBNCAS resident animal. Seeing him walk up to our doors every morning for breakfast seeds and every afternoon for dinner feedings was a delightful daily occurrence for us, a comforting routine that we all will miss but surely cherish.

Thank you for bringing happiness and humor to our lives through all these years, Ducky Duck, and may you fly high. 🪽💚

Happy ! 🐊

Did you know Texas has the third largest population of alligators in the US, behind Florida and Louisiana? Texas alligators are an integral part of every ecosystem in which they reside. Today is a special day of extra appreciation for our spectacular reptilian neighbors! It is a day to highlight the importance of education and conservation for these often misunderstood creatures that live among us. Education is the most effective way to turn fear into respect and understanding, and we at SPIBNCAS pride ourselves in being advocates for alligators and changing public perception which will surely benefit us all.

So visit our facility and attend one of our Gator Talks offered daily (11AM, 1:30PM, 3:30PM) to learn all about this incredible species!

We had an awesome day this past Saturday, May 23, as Girl Scout Daisies came out to earn their Animal Observer Badges! Each Daisy completed every requirement needed to earn this special honor. They enjoyed birdwatching, played Bird Boardwalk Bingo, and finished the day with a fun bird-coloring activity. They mainly focused their attention on the Roseate Spoonbill, Great Blue Heron, Green Heron and White Ibis.
We are very proud of them and hope to see them again soon! Thank you to the parents and troop leaders for bringing them and supporting them on this journey.

These Rose-breasted Grosbeaks have stopped by to refuel after completing their marathon 600-mile flight across the gulf from wintering sites in the tropics. They are halfway to their breeding range in the northeastern part of the US. Some may even go as far as the Boreal Forest in Canada!

They sure love the Deluxe LM Bird Seed from
