Casaday Costume Company

Casaday Costume Company We rent costumes out to theatrical productions, parties, and more! Mr.

As a legendary local theater teacher and director, the late James Lewis Casaday's genius for costuming launched a collection that now consists of more than 100,000 pieces, and continues to be used by area schools, theater groups, and individuals. Casaday began the collection in the late 1930's, acquiring things he needed for his high school theater classes and productions at Central and Riley high

schools. His first pieces were older items from previous generations, and as a result, the collection contains historic garments dating back to the late 1800's. The collection has continued to grow to this day, and still receives donations of historic and vintage clothing for use or preservation. In addition to theatrical costumes, we invite the public to rent wedding dresses, tuxes, formal wear, or clothing from the collection to fit specific time periods or party themes.

Saint Joseph High School recently brought The Addams Family to life (and death!) on stage and we especially loved their creative interpretation of the Ancestors!

The Ancestors represent generations of the Addams family from different eras and walks of life; a great opportunity for imaginative costuming and character work. From Victorian silhouettes to period-inspired details, the cast created a wonderfully eerie ensemble that looked right at home in the Addams family tree.

We're proud that many costumes from the Casaday Costume Company collection helped support this production, alongside pieces sourced and created by the school's talented costume team. It's always exciting to see how directors, designers and performers combine resources to create something uniquely their own!

Congratulations to the cast, crew and creative team on a fantastic production!

Every year, Ryan Paturalski participates in the Distinguished Gentlemen's Ride and dresses on a theme. Last year (in blue), he was named the most Distinguished Gentleman! This year, he went for a more neutral look. Always seems like a good time! Thanks for supporting Casaday Costume Company with your 'distinguished' rental!

Our staff at Casaday Costume Company is incredibly talented and put together this incredible zoot suit to add to the collection! It was created for a client attending the Big Band Bash and will now be a spectacular piece for others to rent as well. The project itself was one of the most challenging patterns with aligning pin stripes and all of the added detail. Would you rent this zoot suit?

More about the zoot suit history:

This style of suit, influenced by the jazz and swing music scenes, evolved in Harlem, New York, during the mid-1930s, peaking in the 1940s. With its use of large amounts of fabric, many thought the outfits were unpatriotic or even criminal during World War II, when strict wartime rationing rules were in place.

Then, the Zoot Suit Riots of 1943 occurred when tensions between local Mexican American youths in zoot suits and off-duty U.S. servicemen erupted into days of violence. People wearing the suits were attacked in the streets by servicemen and white citizens, often stripping them of their clothing.
