We want to highlight collaboration this week. We don’t do this work alone. This week is a perfect example—because of the generosity and storytelling of the filmmakers of 24 Hours on 8th Street and their active outreach in the community, we are able to host this important documentary in the planetarium at the Washington Pavilion. The staff at the Pavilion have been so generous with their space and expertise as we plan an incredible evening featuring our Wo’okiye staff in conversation with the filmmakers. We are grateful to be part of such a caring and cooperative community and hope to see you there. Only a few tickets left, so don’t wait to purchase yours!

This documentary features the work of a number of our partners: St. Francis House, Bishop Dudley Hospitality House, Union Gospel Mission, The Banquet Sioux Falls, Glory House, Midwest Street Medicine, Safe Home…the list goes on! Please join us on Wednesday at the Pavilion to celebrate this work and raise awareness about the struggles of those in our community. We’re so excited to share that in just a couple of weeks, 24 Hours on 8th Street will be screening at the Washington Pavilion inside their incredible Sweetman Planetarium!

This is a pretty special milestone for our film, and we can’t think of a more unique place to bring this story to life. If you haven’t had the chance to see this local documentary yet, we’d love for you to join us for an evening of storytelling, connection, and community.

Even more meaningful, 100% of the proceeds from this screening will be donated to support South Dakota Urban Indian Health who operates the Wóokiye Project street outreach team.

This evening is about more than watching a film. You’ll have the opportunity to hear directly from the film crew, those doing outreach, and people with lived experience. Our hope is to create space for deeper understanding and connection around the realities of homelessness and the people behind the stories.
