Stay safe out there neighbors.
The city has received numerous complaints and observed growing frustration on local social media about mini-bikes being operated on our streets and sidewalks. Mini-bikes may not be operated on Sioux City streets, alleys, parks, trails, sidewalks, or any other city-owned property. ๐ง๐ต๐ฒ๐๐ฒ ๐๐ฒ๐ต๐ถ๐ฐ๐น๐ฒ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฒ ๐ป๐ผ๐ ๐๐๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ ๐น๐ฒ๐ด๐ฎ๐น!
They pose a serious safety riskโnot just to the rider, but also to the public, who are justifiably concerned about potentially striking an operator due to the bikeโs low visibility and lack of vehicle and rider safety equipment. In addition, loud mini-bikes are an undeniable annoyance to our citizens and your neighbors, disturbing the peace as riders motor down our normally quiet side streets.
Officers have been instructed to patrol for violations and take enforcement action, which may include:

โข Vehicle impoundment
โข Traffic misdemeanor summons or even arrest
There are ๐๐ lawful exceptions for mini-bike use on public ways. Please do your part to help keep our community a comfortable and enjoyable one!
