Visited my Teamsters Local 554 brothers today on the strike line. Their ULP strike against Premier (now owned by Glazer’s) is in its TENTH week with no attempt by the company to bargain in good faith.

Folks, Premier had a good relationship with its workers for THIRTY years until acquired by Glazer’s. Some companies treat their workers fairly and some care more about their shareholders and their own greed. Know which kind of companies you are supporting with your dollars.

At the Bridgestone tire plant in Des Moines, USW members don’t take chances when temperatures soar. Cool-down periods and other safety measures automatically kick in during extreme heat, ensuring everyone stays safe.

“There’s no room for individual judgment. When it gets this hot, this is just what we do,” said Keenan Bell, president of USW Local 310L.

Every worker deserves the same protection from heat — no matter their job, location, or employer. That’s why the USW and other unions are pushing for a national standard to keep all workers safe from dangerous heat.
