Our trainer, Heather at Z Dog Training Academy, asked us to share this boy as she knows him and he’s a great dog for the right person:
🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶
This 3 year old boy needs a new home….
Neutered
Wolfhound mastiff mix
He has lived in a house with 2 other males dogs. The oldest male pitbull has resource guarding issues and won’t accept this boy.

Needs confident owner experienced with large breeds. His current owner is a man who he is extremely bonded to. Lower energy dog but likes to go out. He has been good on a leash.

This is what the owner says:

“Dozer is a super friendly dog that loves everybody He meets. He's a big cuddler and extremely affectionate. He's very smart and eager to please. He loves to go on adventures and car rides, but also always down for a chill day at home as he can be very lazy when he wants to be. He would do great in a household as the only dog or possibly with a calm female. overall, he is a great companion with lots of potential.”

If you would like to meet this boy please message us here!

Good day for a fire drill!!!

There is NO fire in our area at this time. No active fire in Santa Clarita.

However, red flag conditions are real. With lots of dogs and horses to think about, we want to always be prepared. We have crates for all dogs, plans for horses. The way the winds are today, we would leave at first sign of danger. This is a beautiful canyon, but it IS a funnel, brush is dry, temperatures are high.

We did lose power. Starlink is out so we will be checking communication regularly by driving down the street.

Water is off, as pump runs on electricity, so we are manually draining water tank for the animals.

Glad Angi Murray and I are both here to work through this…

****UPDATE- ADOPTED!!****
This little white boy need a home!

He and his brother were being sold for $20 on a street corner at 3 weeks old!
(Puppies don’t leave mom until 8 weeks 😣)

They are at the Puppy Hacienda in Santa Clarita, being fostered by Poppy.

We have NO IDEA what breeds they are, but we are guessing grown size of 15-25lbs. He has an almost all-white short coat, and is super sweet and playful.

Reach out to us if you would like to meet him- they will be ready to go home in about 3 weeks.

This is info most vets don’t want you to know..

It’s come to my attention that many do not know the following---so this is sort of a public service announcement from the veterinary side of things.
1. You have the right to ask for a written prescription for any of your dog's medications. You do NOT have to purchase them from your vet or your vet's online pharmacy. You can take that rx anywhere. You may have to pay for their time to write the rx, varies with DVM.

2. Many dog medications are also human medications which means they can be purchased thru human pharmacies such as CVS, Walmart, etc. Many of the pharmacies now ALSO carry dog only medications as they want their piece of the big vet pie.... Think COSTCO---which usually has the cheapest prices because they can buy in big bulk.

3. You do NOT need to be a member of Costco to use their pharmacy. They also have a special dog medicine 'club' to get special prices on dog meds. Not entirely sure how that works, but know it exists if you sign up for it.

4. Find the cheapest prices on the medication you want in your area through goodrx.com. Just go to goodrx.com, enter in your zip code and the medication name, strength and quantity and it'll tell you where to find it cheapest, usually with a 'coupon' that you can click on and print out right then. Goodrx is free to use, you do not need to be a member to use. Some places (Like Costco) do not participate in Goodrx so they won't be listed there, even if their price is cheaper. A very few of the places listed will NOT include purchasing meds for your dogs in their coupons. This will show up on the fine print on the coupon itself that you will see after you've clicked on it. If your medication has a generic name make sure you always enter the generic names and not the brand names. (although goodrx will usually give you both options and sometimes the brand is cheaper than the generic, depending on what promotions are going on at that time).

Does my vet office lose some prescriptions because I tell my clients all of the above? Perhaps, but then also perhaps my clients can AFFORD to medicate their animals and get them the meds they need. They also appreciate my advice so they keep coming back and spending money on office exams to stay on track with their pet's health.....knowing I'm NOT in it all just for the $$$ (which is what we vets often get accused of.....)

Bakersfield shelters are where we get most of our rescues from… imagine the stress of living in the kennel rooms… the constant barking, the fear in the air.
This dog Cesar Milan works with is exactly the scenario Angi Murray works with; dogs that are terrified and act aggressively from fear. They explain this well in the video.
There is hope for these dogs, but far too few people skilled or caring enough to do this work. I, personally, am not able to do this. Angi excels at it.
Currently we have a mom-Jillie- who was like this when we rescued her. She is much better now, but it takes a long time and a huge amount of patience.
I hope you check out this video, if only to see the conditions these dogs come from. The shelter is clean, staff is doing the best they can, but it is so hard on the animals.

Cesar Milan demonstrates “rehab” training on a fearful dog at a Bakersfield shelter.

When fear turns into aggression, a leash can feel like a weapon. To...

Tiny little playful fosters 💕
Although these two do not belong to our little rescue we knew that the person who saved them needed help! We stepped up to foster them and take care of them through this venerable stage! They are much too young to be away from the mother yet they were being sold to the first person that would take them on the side of the road 💔
The little white one is still available.
We have no idea what these puppies are although they are tiny little boys with big personalities. They appear to be around 5 1/2 to 6 weeks old now and will be with me for three more weeks.
