Keeping Simi Valley Moving Safely!
A huge thank you to Justin Link, Simi Valley’s Chief Traffic Engineer, for speaking at our Rotary meeting today! We got an insider look at the smart tech and infrastructure keeping our city improving:
Street lighting, the future of signal improvements and signs.
It was a fantastic presentation about the hard work powering our local streets!

The Rotary Club of Simi Valley was honored to host a Dispatcher Recognition event celebrating the professionals who serve as the first point of contact in moments of crisis.

Before help arrives on scene, it begins with a call—and the calm, skilled voice on the other end. Dispatchers manage high-pressure situations, gather critical information, and help ensure that our first responders can do their jobs effectively and safely.

Their work is essential, often unseen, and deserving of recognition.

We are proud to support and celebrate these dedicated individuals who play such a vital role in keeping our community safe.

Thank you to all who joined us and helped make this evening meaningful.

Cultivating the next generation of agriculture!

Today, our Rotary had the pleasure of hosting Caitlin Case from SEEAG (Students for Eco-Education and Agriculture).
Caitlin shared SEEAG’s inspiring vision: ensuring the future of agriculture by teaching our community to appreciate the "hands and lands that feed us." From classroom programs to hands-on field trips, they are making sure our local agricultural roots stay strong in both rural and urban areas.

The big news? Ventura County Farm Day is turning 10!

What started in 2013 has grown into a massive community tradition. Mark your calendars for a day of hands-on learning and family fun.

Save the Date: April 11th
Event: 10th Annual Farm Day

Today’s Rotary meeting at The Junkyard was a little different than our usual format, and incredibly informative.

We had the privilege of learning from Mark Villasenor and members of the Ventura County Fire Department, who led an interactive presentation on fire safety. Inside, we learned about different fire extinguisher classifications and when to use them in real-world situations.

Then we took the learning outside for a hands-on demonstration, practicing the PASS technique — Pull, Aim, Squeeze, Sweep — and getting a chance to actually use a fire extinguisher.

A big thank you to Ventura County Fire for taking the time to share their knowledge and help equip our community with practical safety skills. Experiences like this remind us that Rotary is not just about service, but also about learning and connecting in meaningful ways.

We had some awesome guests from the Westlake rotary and we hope to continue great relationships and work together.

We were thrilled to welcome back Derek Eidson from Ventura Rotaract as our guest speaker this week. Last year, Derek shared the ambitious goal of raising funds for the Vietnam School Build. This week, he returned to share the incredible story of the project's completion!
Seeing the direct impact of Rotaract's hard work—moving from a vision to a physical schoolhouse for children in Vietnam—is a powerful reminder of what we can achieve when we unite for good.
Thank you, Derek, for the inspiring update and for showing us the true meaning of "Service Above Self."

Come join us every Tuesday at noon at the Junkyard
