After a long week, we wanted to express our immense gratitude to the firefighters who protected Brandeis and our neighboring communities in and around Simi Valley. Through their incredible bravery and meticulous work, the Sandy Fire is now at 94% containment and camp is safe and ready to welcome nearly 1,000 campers for another incredible Alonim summer in just a few weeks. While this week was incredibly challenging, we once again saw evidence that our oft-repeated phrase "camp people show up" is more than just something we say -- we saw how our wonderful Brandeis-Bardin and Alonim community members supported one another through this difficult experience. Once again, we express our deep gratitude to the firefighters and first responders who fought to keep our beloved home safe.

Sandy Fire Update: The Brandeis-Bardin Campus remains under evacuation orders. Fire crews remained onsite throughout the night, and authorities are reporting 30% containment. Conditions continue to move in the right direction. Out of an abundance of caution, fire crews will remain on campus again tonight.

Due to the observance of Shavuot and Shabbat, this will be our last communication until Sunday. Should an emergent situation arise, we will share updates as needed over the holiday and weekend.

We remain deeply grateful to the firefighters and first responders working to keep our beloved Brandeis-Bardin Campus safe.
