Camp Widow Camp Widow® is a unique weekend program that provides practical tools, relevant resources, and an invaluable community for any widowed person who attends.

Soaring Spirits has returned to in person programming! Regular Conference Registration - $700
Organization-Subsidized Registration - $425
Attending One Day only - $225

Your conference fee for Camp Widow® will include the following:

Friday: Access to a full day of workshops, discussions, and intensive seminars
One ticket to the Friday evening Welcome Reception
Saturday: Keynote address
Saturday: Access to a full day of workshops, discussions, and intensive seminars
One ticket to the Soaring Spirits Semi-formal Award Banquet
Sunday: One paid registration to the Widow Dash 5K Run/Walk in Tampa, FL or San Diego, CA (registration applies to campers only)
One ticket to our Farewell Breakfast buffet.

* Hotel accommodations are not included. Instructions for booking your hotel accommodations can be found online at www.campwidow.org. We will also have an online board on our Widowed Village forum to help you find a roommate if you wish to defray costs by sharing a room with another camper.

Traditional bereavement groups may not reflect the realities of q***r partnerships, chosen family, disenfranchised grief, or the complicated relationships some have with family and community."

This interactive session will explore how to assess and strengthen your existing support system while also creating new sources of connection. Presenters will share examples from an established New York City LGBTQ+ widowed group, an online peer-support community, and Soaring Spirits’ LGBTQ+ programs to demonstrate that meaningful support can take many forms—from informal friendships and local gatherings to virtual groups and larger networks.

Join Christine Koenig at Camp Widow NYC for her workshop, "Beyond This Plane: Finding Meaning, Connection, and Healing After Loss" 💛

This workshop isn’t about asking anyone to adopt a particular belief system. Instead, it offers a welcoming space to explore how these experiences can shape our healing, provide comfort, and remind us that each grief journey is deeply personal.

Christine Koenig is an award-winning journalist with editorial and production credits in television, radio, print and online, her work has appeared in Chicago Tribune, Time, CNN, A&E’s American Justice, The Oprah Winfrey Show, to name a few. She is currently the Content Manager for Global and Segments at CuraLinc Healthcare; the Grief and Loss Toolkit (www.griefandloss.tools) she created for CuraLinc was honored with a 2025 Communicator Award of Distinction from the Academy of Interactive & Visual Arts. In 2026, her own website, LetMyLossBeYourGain.com, was also honored with that award. In November 2025, she earned a certification as a grief counselor.

In this workshop you will learn how to identify your secondary losses, develop coping strategies to adapt to your new life, and come up with small steps you can take to reduce their impact, lower your stress, and make your everyday life better. 🫶

💛 AimeeJo was widowed in 2020 when her partner of 19 years died from a rare cancer related to her military service. Her late partner, Vanessa, was deemed terminal at the time of diagnosis, and AimeeJo had the honor of being her caregiver during her final months. She is a grief educator, facilitator, and rebuilding and resilience coach who provides non-pathologizing support for people navigating life after loss. She is honored to serve on the Soaring Spirits’ LGBTQ+ steering committee and to facilitate the twice-monthly Love, S*x, and Relationships After Loss Group for LGBTQ+ widows as a Soaring Spirits Regional Group Leader.

Stay tuned this week to get to know our amazing presenters and their workshops, starting with our very own Michele Neff Hernandez, who will be giving the Opening Address 💜

Michele Neff Hernandez is the CEO and Founder of Soaring Spirits International. Michele founded the Soaring Spirits Resilience Center at Schreiner University in Kerrville Texas and serves as the center’s Director. She is also a speaker, a community activist who has received local, state, and national recognition, as well as the author of Different After You. Michele resides in Simi Valley, California with her three amazing kids, one great son-in-law and one very Australian husband.

Are you a widowed ally coming to Camp Widow Buffalo? This workshop offers a space for honest, thoughtful conversation for those supporting someone who is widowed. Whether you are dating, partnered with, or a family member of a widowed person, this session invites you into real talk about the unique dynamics that can arise in these relationships.

Jonathan, the creator of our Widowed Ally track, has attended many previous Camp Widow events with his husband Nick and has participated in other capacities with Soaring Spirits. Nick and Jonathan live in Los Angeles and enjoy traveling the world as much as possible.
